Aye, well I'm still proud of Martin's score, and I do like the background I created for him heh.

And just re-ran Malzenar and got a 23 this time, making him a:
21 - 30 - The Mary-Sue - Whoops. Your character seems to need a little work. Your character is likely a bit unbelievable and maybe even annoying, but he or she is certainly not beyond repair. Don't give up!
Is the character old by the standards of his or her race?
... Even though he or she doesn't look it?
Has the character ever known any major lore characters? (ex. Arthas, Thrall, Sylvanas, Maiev, etc.)
How about teacher/student?
Has the character ever freely, willingly and knowingly worked for an evil regime?
Is the character any non-playable race?
Is the character a Demon, Dragonkin, Naaru, or other mystical/powerful race?
Does the character just "know things?"
Does the character have a perceptible aura of power?
Of evil?
Is the character of above average intelligence for his or her race?
A bona-fide genius, perhaps?
Has the character ever been the most powerful in a group of his or her peers?
Is the character selfish, manipulative, sadistic, or generally lacking empathy for people?
Does the character ever commit a serious crime?
Does the character speak Demonic?
Has the character ever been hunted for being a Warlock?
Does the character participate in demonic ritual outside of what is required for being a warlock?
Are what I clicked for good ole Malzenar... and was still only a 23 lol.

Does the character ever become human through the course of your storyline?
Basically, redeemed from undeath.

Eh, the test mentions elves a good bit. I don't think that would go in there still since she was still an elf.

But its in the undead section, and seeing as the undead caters for the playable ones (which happen to all be undead humans, not elves) I think that box could still be ticked in Valinaria's case.

Hmm, still wondering if I should tweak a few things on Martin or not....

And decided I will. I think I'll change it to him having sent his sister and her family out of Lordaeron once the Scourge war starts, that way they aren't in the northren kingdoms when Silvermoon and Dalaran fall.

Heh, and just ran the daughter of my mage through the test and she only got an 8.
Here's her story:
Tahlia Morningwood
Daughter of the Magus Telnar Martin and the High Elf magestrix Sheril Morningwood, Tahlia is a half-elf woman following in her parent's footsteps of becoming a mage. Her mother had died when the young woman was only 10, and she had been sent to live with her father, who took up her training till the assault of the Scourge in the Third War forced him to send her stay with a good friend, Knockturn Wrench, a gnome mage who had known both Sheril and Martin for years. Tahlia is tall, about 6 foot 6, same as her father, has long brown hair, and a pair of soft blue-green eyes. She was able to resist the Hunger after the Sunwell was destroyed, and now lives in the ice and snow of Dun Morogh with her 'Uncle' Knock.

I wonder what you would have to do in order to get a 1 on that test.

Well you can get negatives, so....

Adamsm
Of course you need to figure out what counts as a negative for it lol.

Telnar Martin, a veteran of the 2nd and 3rd Wars, is a human magus, well known for his battle magic and proweress on the battlefields. During a skirmish leading up to Hyjal, the Magus and his squad had successfully held off a demon assault for almost a full day. He is a grizzled looking man, with a thick head of hair and a wild beard, with bright hazel eyes, heavy features, and is about 6 and half feet tall. Usually just wears simple robes with a set of thick leather armour under them, as he had been stabbed long ago during a battle and was unwilling to repeat the process.
Sorry, just wanted to keep track of this for Martin heh.

sneaky bump
Character: Tahlia Martin
Tahlia Martin is a half-elf mage, daughter of the Magus Telnar Martin and Sheril Morningwood. She has severed most of her ties with her family, and is currently searching for her lost father, who vanished during the opening days of the Cataclysm. She is 6 foot 6, with loose brown hair down to the center of her back, which she usuallys keeps in a simple tail, has soft blue-green eyes, and slightly pointed ears. Tahlia rarely wears mage robes anymore, prefering simple leathers to keep from being stabbed, and to also hide the fact she is a mage, as their are many who feel the magical community failed when they didn't warn what was about to happen.
Sorry, just keeping track of my toons for the Martin family heh. Also, Girlcaster, run Valinaria through the sue test again, with your new info from the Cataclysm thread heh.

I do get quite fed up of peoples overuse of the word Sue/mary-sue/gary-sue so on. So a characters a little more involved in the lore then others, you count them as a sue. A character is overly smart, you call them a sue. A character is acting heroic when faced with overwhelming odds, he's/she's a sue.
Seriously.. Thrall a sue? What have you been smoking Adam?

Some characters that score high won't really be Mary Sues
Found on the intro to the test.
Post by
Adamsm
Remember, everything here is a symptom, not the disease. Some characters that score high won't really be Mary Sues, and some that score low may be the Sue-iest Sues to ever leave Suesville. I can't say how likely that is, but hey, there's always hope? There's the full quote. But if you go from just on the definition of the mary-sue....
