Hi guys,
I left this game about 6 months ago, and I can't say that I don't miss it. I would like to return, but I fear the game hasn't changed much since I left.
Now the reason why I left is that the game was boring me. After I reached level 80 and started end game raiding, it seemed like all the thought was taken out of the game, and players were left with only having to spam a few select spells to kill the bosses.
I played as a holy priest, and though I was never at the top of the healing meters - I was more often than not at the bottom because I refused to spam flash heal and do a ton of overhealing - I was still a valuable part of our guild. When I left we hadn't cleared much of the content, and I've only once sat foot in Naxx25. My very favorite period of WoW was at level 70, with our guild doing (and wiping on) Kara, Gruuls and Mags for the first time.
I think I would like to play a different class this time, I would definitely not want to play on my holy priest again after this long pause. Maybe I should try something completely different, like a melee class.
My question is will I still be bored after hitting level 80? What is end game like nowadays?
If anyone read through all that, I /salute you.

Well, 6 months is alot of time.
Blizzard has added in two new raids, Ulduar and Trials of the Crusader.
Ulduar is not a faceroll,
at all.
Blizzard made sure of that, along with the additions of a few hardmodes in that raid. That will be a challenge if you don't already know the place well.
Trial of the Crusader is very unique, since it has a 10/25 man version which each version even has heroic modes! The heroic modes have been painful as far as I heard, bosses two shotting tanks from what rumors go around.
Also new Island of Conquest battleground has been added! Go get your honor points! Also, new bosses in Vault of the Ancients, so new fights as well!
I play the game for fun, so I'm actually not on it that often, just usually do what I need to do and call it a day. If you don't find it fun, I'd suggest you don't come back (no offense).
That's a bit of what's new, plenty other things are around I haven't listed.

For the most part, the game has always been like that. Are there challenging bosses? Yes. Are there still easy ones? Yes.
Ulduar was a step in the right direction for raiding in my opinion. You can clear the whole instance fairly easily OR you can do hard modes for extra loot/prestige/fun. Trial of the Crusader/Grand Crusader is the same way.
If you do decide to come back, I highly recommend trying to experience the Faction Champions fight in ToC10 or 25.
ToGC Anub'Arak is crazy fun too (if you think challenge=fun).

Overhaul
PvP in BGs has changed a lot, so lvling a new toon can be fun if u like pvp (u get exp from BGs and twinks are basicly gone).
If u want to try a melee class, try a paladin. I am lvling my 2nd paladin and i find it a lot of fun. Over the 6 months though, ret had got its PvP burst nerfed, but paladins are still a fun class to play and their protection tree is now OP (blizzard tried to make the paladin's prot tree viable for PvP and now they are a little too strong).
I have never been into end-game content, i love to PvP. If u do want to come back and don't want to try end-game, try out the PvP, it has changed a lot. Oh, and u can make a ally and horde toon on PvP servers, like on PvE servers (it isn't as bad as it sounds). You can also pay to have ur character's faction changed.

Those were some quick replies, thanks people!
Oh I should have mentioned, I HATE pvp. Really hate it. So I probably won't start with that now.
One thing that makes me want to start a new character is the achievement system. I like having my progress recorded, and with my main I never liked that I got all the achievements at the first login after installing wotlk.
I'm also considering starting on a RP server. I like the idea of roleplaying, but I'm not sure if I have the fantasy to RP full time.

RP is only fun if you have a guild of like-minded people to do it with. It's obnoxious otherwise.

Sorry I'm in Europe. But if I am going to start playing again I like the idea of rerolling with someone.
