512 ram
this could be 90% of your problem. when i was running on a PC with 512MB, i noticed it would start swapping a lot. that will kill your performance in no time.
if you can cheaply upgrade to 1GB (even 784MB), it should give you enough margin to prevent swapping.

I'm finally upgrading my PC! I'm buying all the parts (except the monitor) off of Newegg. I decided to start fresh with up to date technology and here's the results:
Cooler Master HAF-932 Case
- I like to have a lot of elbow room
ASUS P7P55D PRO Motherboard
- New socket and 3 PCI-E slots means I can continue to upgrade over time rather than have to replace the whole machine in the future
eVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Videocard
- It performs VERY well and is cheap, so slapping in a second (or third) one wont be an issue in the future
Intel Core i5 750
- Cheap CPU that still outshines the high end Core2Quad series processors. In the future I can upgrade to an i7 processor with no hassles (After a massive price drop of course)
OCZ Gold 4GB DDR3 1066 RAM
- Not super fast, but it doesn't need to be
Grand total? $789. If you don't need or want the huge ass case then you can shave off another $139. The trick is to buy low to mid range parts that you can upgrade in the future, rather than having to start over. In 2 years I can see myself with a couple GTX 295's + one of my 260's for PhysX, more ram and an i7 processor, all sitting in the same mobo. Learning to build a PC is invaluable, as Dell and Alienware and the like will overcharge you by a fair amount.

Well i already have extra slot taken, and
in some way its 768 ram, but since the other dice is slower/older... it kinda still works like 512, maybe 600.
I wont be able to upgrade my ram only. PC is too old. Nobody sells anything compatible with it any more.
I am totally aware of the source of the problem. My PC is almost 5 years old. There is nothing i can do with it, unless i buy a new one. I am rather short on cash atm so not very soon.
baloney. after reading that underlined part it's obvious you have no idea what you're talking about.
spend $58 and upgrade to 2GB ram and you'll see huuuuuge improvements.

you could also spend prolly $50 and upgrade your video card to double your fps.
