Also, technically in cataclysm as a night elf mage youll be a high elf by lore.Highborne, not a High Elf; there is a difference, the mages are the left overs in Dire Maul finally leaving the ruined city now that adventures(or warlocks) have slaughtered the Demon, and done a favour for the Ogres in killing the Shen'dalar Prince; now that there leader and immortality is gone, time to go on bended knee to the 'cousins' and beg forgiveness for hiding away during the War of the Ancients instead of fighting against Azshara and the Legion.

Worgen can count as a Human race, sure, but the Forsaken are nowhere near Human.
Anyway, I'm going to quote BiggieSmlls from the previous page, because I think he makes a very valid point in this discussion.
I'd like to form my disagreement based on playstyle. What would the High Elves have that makes them unique from Blood Elves? I am unable to see the unique factor that makes them an exciting, new contribution to the game.
Take for example, the Worgen and the Goblins. Worgen are notorious for brute strength and cunning speed, hence their racials. Goblins have a past of intellectual advancements in prestigious technology that could be considered anachronistic in the realm of World of Warcraft. Blood Elves, when they were added, had unique stats, unique racials and unique race choices(first paladin for the horde, first non-warrior of the game). What would High Elves do for their faction?
Don't forget the obvious prioritizers that build their case of entry and recognition based on their unique fighting capabilities and classes. The Naga! The Ogres! The Pandaren!

think of this:
Dranei- Wowhead lists 278 types of NPCs
Gnomes- 84 types of NPCs
Trolls- 111 types of NPCs
Ironforge- 28 types of NPCs
Compared to Stormwind- 705 types of NPCs; and
Orgrimmar- 474 types of NPCs
So population isn't an argument. And the highborne might be added later. But keep in mind that so far only four races have been added. Dranei were needed to explain outlands, as well as Belves (high elves in outland? lore pl0x)
And in Cataclysm Worgen and Goblin were meant to homogenize the Horde and Alliance, whereas high elves couldn't make either side more homogenized.

and
http://www.wowwiki.com/Blood_elves
please read and then post comments about high elves and blood elves you tell me to shut up just because you know I'm right
they. look. exactly. the. same. thats. why. they. will. never. have. playable. high elves.
you.missed.the.part.where.blood.elves.will.have.the.felbloodelf.model.high elves.will.have.different.hairstyles,eye.colors,hair.colours.and.different.skin.colour.and.will.be.taller.
I don't really think having the felblood elf model will make much sense. Only some blood elves in Outland drank demonic blood to become felblood elves, and those elves are followers of Kael and the Burning Legion and would not retreat to Azeroth to join the Horde.
