That's what we thought about Kael too...
Also, Medivh said that no more guardians would be needed. :)
I'm still not going to class Aegwynn as dead until something other than a crappy comic says so.
What's my point? Oh, the comics completely ruin the Lore in my opinion.
I also like Aegwynn, Ludora. ;)

Aegwynn is gone... she's finished her cycle heh: gave birth to Medivh, lost a fight to him and was sealed away, gave up 90% of her powers to bring his soul back from the afterlife, then dies protecting her grandson.

By the way,
this
is why I like Grom. I assume most other Hordies who like him feel the same way.

Heh, I admit, before I read Lord of the Clans and Rise of the Horde, Grom didn't impress me that much. But taking all three things: His start in Rise of the Horde, his help to Thrall during Lord of the Clans, then his fall and redemption during Warcraft 3 made me understand him in a new light.

Metzen summed it up perfectly. The architypal 'bad guys' in so many genres is the orcs, as stemmed from lord of the rings and onwards, and yet here in warcraft you have orc being heroes, both noble and savage in there actions, and you see, like between Grom and Thrall, a lot of heart.. and you'd have to be pretty dead inside not to feel some emotion at Groms death scene.
This is why I'm so defensive of the horde, the orcs more then anything, because I've finally found a genre where the orcs can be the heroes, there able to be the ones fighting against the evils in the world instead of fighting as part of it, and that makes them so much more dimentional, as metzen said, and so much more believeable as characters and people.

Kael had also done his cycle - goin' evil, gettin' killed and we thought that was it.
I like Aegwynn too much
Nothing wrong with liking her.... but not everyone can stay alive for ever heh, the 'Setbacks' aside.

See, I love the orcs of Warcraft, but I don't like Grom. I don't see Grom as being the one to set in that path of redemption, no I see him as being the last remnant of the Old Horde. To me, Thrall is the character that sets in the redemption for the Orcs, Grom to me does nothing but solidify that the redemption is necessary.
I honestly think that Grom was too overly reliant on strength for his own good. He was the first to drink the Blood of Mannoroth, because he wanted to be the strongest orc, and he does it again in WC3, even when he could have waited for reinforcements to arrive. Though he did kill Mannoroth and solidify that redemptive path, he was one of the driving forces behind the need for redemption and that's why I don't like him all that much. I mean, yeah, he was a great orc... but I think people tend to overlook that lust for strength that he had.
Honestly, the best representation of the Orcish people I've seen so far has been Doomhammer. *waits for darkton's snarky comment* heh.

I guess I agree with you too. As Thrall said it, the curse of the orc began and ended with Grom, so in Groms sacrifice, it was set the demonic bloodrage would lift from his kind. Its no small thing he did, but I'm certainly not arguing it began because he trusted his want for power over his instints like Durotan did.
Thrall is, of course, the true redeemer of the horde, since if anyone can even try to imagine it, would the horde be what it is now, if Thrall had not survived when his parents were killed, that he was the one who railed the orcs together, raised there spirits to fight again, had it that Doomhammer saw something in him and even in his dying moments, gave Thrall, not Grom, the mantle of warchief. How different would things have turned out if Grom was given that charge, and would the orcs have been truely lost for good?
I won't argue that the line of Hellscream seems to be one that prizes straight first and all else behind it, even strategy, instincts and foresight. This is reflected perfectly in Garrosh, who wasn't corrupted by the demon blood, but is still one who thinks the only thing an orc needs is straight and nothing else (something even Saurfang thinks with foresight and planning, and only fights when he knows he should).

1)High Warlord Saurfang - He's just such an ultimate badass, the h quest in borean, where he shows up at the last minute to own ass. He's the Anton Chugurh of WoW <3
2) Jaina Proudmoore - Her sense of what is just and righteous is such a force in the WoW universe. and after Hyjal, how could I not?
3) Ner'zhul - an orc becoming the lich king? schooling the guy who says "you are not prepared!" just wonderful
4) Alganon - Just the idea of alganon is so epic. he looks sooo awesome. ahhh
5) King Magni Bronzebeard - im a huge fan of lotr and the hobbit, and im such a fan of dwarf lore in general, he reminds me of thorin oakenshield, the last true king under the mountain. like thorin he has half the sense of adventure brann has, and the warrior half from muradin. my favorite overall. shame I play horde!

Sure, it doesn't seem all shiny and amazing now, but imagine what it was liek when it was first released? Nothing like that had ever been done before, or at least not in the last couple hundred years.
Tolkien adapted mythology like dwarves, elves, and goblins; invented races like orcs, hobbits and ents; created languages that are now the base of WoW languages; and did a tremendous amount of work in painstakingly crafting this modern mythology that has spawned the 90% of the fantasy genre. I think he deserves some props.
