Okay, this is a long shot, but maybe Anub'arak wasn't reffering to the Lich King when he said: "I never thought I would be free of him."?
We all know that the Old Gods have a pressence in Ahn'kahet, so maybe it was the wisperings of Yogg-Saron Anub was reffering to.
As for when he says: "Agreed implies choice". Again, this is a long shot, but maybe after he was raised into undeath he knew there was no going back, so he just gave himself to the Lich King. The quote could perhapes be him just reflecting upon the past.
Any thoughts?

Ehh.. as far as I know, the Lich King has a really tight grip on that race, so in all honesty I don't think it was yogg-saron. The whispered from the Lich King probaly did enough a long time ago.

Well, Anub's still intelligent - if not perhaps sane. So while the wisperings of an Old God might not be maddening, they might be very, very annoying.
EDIT: Like I said, this si just speculation. In the Trial of Champions - or whatever - he seems rather happy serving the Lich King again. He death quote is: "I have faild you, master..."

Anub was a tragic figure for a while there, then he got demoted to 5-man boss fodder, I'm glad he's back as a true raid boss, and all the rest. As for your speculation Morec.. Yeah I don't think he's refering to Yogg either, mainly because he says during WC3 FT that the Faceless and Forgotton ones are the enemy of all that live, and if he was a puppet to the Old Gods, would he really say that about his own kind?

Where did I say he was working for the Old Gods?

Ah sorry, misread that Morec. But look at Zeliek, he was forced raised by Kel'Thuzad, and he tries his best to warn people away from the Military quarter. Could be the same for Anub.

Zeliek still has some humanity. One: Anub was never human, Two: Anub's been in the service of the Lich King for a lot longer, his will might be broken - although his mind is his own - and his morality twisted.

Well we all know it's a forced conversion, and turning Anub into the thing he hated the most would just be amusing to the Lich King. And how do we know the morality is twisted? Not many non-Scourge Nerubians left, we don't know as much about their society as we do some of the others. The Silithids and the Quarj are like ants after all, unless your the leaders, everything else can be thrown at the enemies till they die.

I honestly thing the big deal here is the step from "
finally free of him
" to "
failed you, master
". The first one implying that by killing him, we are freeing him, and the second one - that there is no more "good Anub", even deep inside.
