Didnt see one in the helpful threads guide. Would be nice to have a resto PvP guide, as that will likely be my off-spec.

Ya, there is no "wax on wax off" method of playing PvP resto. You have to decide what works best with your and your partner's gear level. Higher level resto's will use 3 stacks of LB's a lot while lower gear levels have to squeeze regrowths out for the extra HoT.
I may right a guild for rest if I get bored, but druid is the most OP healing class for 2v2 atm, so it doesn't take much trial and error to be good at it.

Resto pvp guide would be easy:
Run around in circles with barkskin and toss instant heals while pointing and laughing at all the dps trying to interrupt you. If you get too low, change to travel run away back to tree toss heals. Laugh as everyone dies around you. Toss some more heals on yourself and if you feel like it dance while casters waste mana on you. Cure all poisons and Cleanse all curses, laugh at all rogues and locks trying to kill you.
PS: I rarely pvp with my dk, but when I see a resto druid I ignore it and go kill something else. If you don't have 3 or more people on him there is nothing you can do. Now if I see him healing I will DG him as far away from everyone as possible and then freeze him there. This is why I am rolling a druid for pvp. ;p

I kill druids all the time in PvP.... Ever seen a resto druid+dk team in 2v2 arena? Burst DK>restealth>blow cooldowns on Druid while he's not HoT'd>dead druid. Usually druids are squishier than DK's....
Oh, forgot to mention, as a DK, you have plenty of tools for killing a resto druid. What you lack is the knowledge of how to use the tools to get the job done.

Shhh, Lightrain, I was hoping that no one would pick up on it. I used to do arenas in BC as an enhance shaman. That was just brutal. I was a human punching bag, so when I got my dk up to 80. I swore off arenas, then I started leveling my druid, and found it so much fun. Something about prowling around and killing things is just a blast. I still hate resto druids, but they are easier to kill with bleeds and a few stuns than to kill by just trying to zerg them to death.

Any idiot can tell you "Resto druid = HoTs, and win."
A guide is more than that. A guide is a pre-done analysis for you, including talent builds (sometimes as simple as linking builds, sometimes as much as breaking each talent down = usually a listing of important talents or talents to avoid as well as a basic description of why a build is recomended), gear choices (not just "get PvP gear" but how would you rank crit/haste/SP, at what resil should you seek PvE gear, etc), spell priority (there is no "cookie cutter" but when is it better to use LB's and rejuv vs. Regrowth or Nourish, some anecdotal advice) and things like that.
I can walk into an arena with some random spec and all the gear I can get from honor, spamming HoTs and running in circles and probably do a decent job. Or I can walk into arena with a polished spec, a decent blend of gear optomized for arena performance, and preconcieved ideas of when to use what spell - and I'll do a much better job.

So I looked at the O-Boards, Allakhazam (and various links in there), and here, and I can't find a Resto PvP guide. I refuse to go to Elitist Jerks (because their stuff is usually buried under hundreds of posts, and I've not found them that accurate in WotLK anyway) but it would be really nice to have a guid that covered at least some of the following:
Stat Priorities/Meta Gems/Resilience *Cap*
Enchants/Gems/PvE Gear to go for
Talent Spec and/or Discussion of Specific Talents, in particular:
Breakdown of various options (Deep Resto, Restokin, Feral Healer)
Rough idea on when to use what spell
Group make-up or counter-class advice
Of those, the most important are talent build and stat priorities, as that will really help a lot of druids. You learn what spells to use as time goes on - but its harder to "learn" which talents to use.

If you are doing 2v2s, there are a couple guides at ArenaJunkies to get you started:
Resto Druid/Ret Paladin (Paladin PoV)
Druid/Warlock
Whilst that is not a particularly impressive selection, it does contain a lot of good points, both about playing those specific comps and playing
resto pvp in general
.
Before anyone says "but.. but... Blizz killed 2v2s". Well, they killed 2s for people who care about shoulders and titles, and they killed it for people who really need a PvP weapon. They didn't kill it for people who play to try and improve their skills and learn their class, or for people who just play for fun (*gasp*).
Also, to get a deeper insight into what to do in certain situations you can look into the guides of other comps and read their strategies for defeating your comp. For example, if you are having trouble with UnholyDK/RestoShaman teams, go to
their
tactics pages and
read their tactic for your comp
(hypothetically druid/warrior in this example). This page will tell you exactly what you need to prevent from happening.
If you do happen to play Warrior/Druid, i can highly recommend watching the
Dahis 7 video
from the start of last season. It is from a warrior PoV but he talks about his resto's tactics a lot also. The main thing you can take from this video is how to use Cyclone offensively to apply extreme pressure on other players and enemy healers, which is an
incredibly
valuable lesson.
For specs - quoted from an older thread here:
24/0/47 - Insect Swarm with imp Barkskin
Cons - Not many tbh. Lacks Wild Growth and/or Living seed for 3v3s and 5v5.
Pros - Great Synergy from Balance talents. Increased Healing power from Lunar Guidance. 24 yard Cyclone. Insect Swarm&Moonfire + fast Wrath spam gives a high amount of offensive power (for a healer) that can be switched on for a very low mana cost.
19/0/52 - Wild Growth Spec
Cons - Lacks Offensive power. Lacks a bit of utility the more hybrid specs have.
Pros - Strong Group healing for 3v3s and 5v5s. 24 yard Cyclone. Is almost everything you'd want from a PvE build also (GotEM being the only real exception). You can modify this build to get 3/5 GotEM if you would like to be able to stack up hots faster. Probably lose the points from Nature's Grace to do it.
0/23/48 - imp Tree & Barkskin with Feral Charge
Cons - Lacks about 10% or so raw healing power you can get from having Balance talents. Very little offensive capability. Only 20 yard Cyclone. Can cost a lot in shapeshifting.
Pros - large mobility increase. Increased melee survivability. Counterspell on a 15 sec cooldown. CC chain extended from 10 secs out of every 30 to 19 secs out of every 30.
I've yet to find a high rated druid that currently uses this FC build, but it is a lot of fun and has a lot going for it. It would help to be familiar with the classic 8/11/42 playstyle as it's very similar.
For comp choices:
2v2s
-
3v3s
-
5v5s
Bear in mind some of these druids are not resto, although most are. You can see the spec distribution at the top of each page.
I totally agree a dedicated Resto PvP guide is needed, but hopefully there is enough here to get you started with your own research. The problem with finding good guides is that a high proportion of high rated restos can play, but not teach. Many are far too young to write an intelligent guide also.

So out of all the experienced resto players out there, and all of the resto druids that must look at Wowhead, not one person can write a good resto Pvp guide or even knows where one is? :*( Sad day
Can anyone just break down the first two bullet points and the fifth one?
Points 1 and 2 are answerred by clicking these links:
2v2s
-
3v3s
-
5v5s
Bear in mind some of these druids are not resto, although most are. You can see the spec distribution at the top of each page.
Click a top team, click the druid to see his profile, look at his gearing and gems/enchants.
Points 3 and 4 are already answered, although only briefly. The 24/0/47 spec is the "restokin" spec these days. Taking Moonkin form for a healing role is not really viable atm (sadly. long live season 4).
Point 6 is answerred by clicking the links above again.
Point 5 is hard to quantify, and could only be fully answered by a 10 page guide, but you can learn most of it from experience. Try to identify your mistakes whenever you play, even when you win. No class is so OP against a resto that their class is your excuse. If you can find a problem but don't know the solution, ask an experienced resto on your server. Watch PvP videos.
