2) Off topic
2) No. I was telling him why his post was illegitimate.
His post was also off topic. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE LEGITIMACY OF HOMOSEXUALITY. This thread is about what rights should be granted to homosexuals.
The latter brings into question what rights government can or cannot grant.
The former just introduces an endless arguement about opinions of homosexuality legitimacy or illigitimacy.
As much as I try, people just ignore my points and say some stupid blurb about how gays are either cool or not, which is off topic.

People always use the internet and can act like ass hats - they're anonymous.

Usually there is at least ONE person in the endless sea of spam that has a valid point and arguement to discuss with.
I would like to pose a question:
What if the government made it legal to drink water?
That would make me go "Gee, why do I need government's permission to drink water? Government isn't the deciding factor in my water intake. It has no right to tell me yes or no, because it is not the authority on my water consumption." - - Same goes with marriage. The government should not make it legal for homosexuals or heterosexuals to get married, because it has no authority to.
The reply I get is "But what about the privlidges/rights/tax exemptions/benefits that go along with marriage?"
To which my reply is: "There should be no legal benefit to getting married. If you have a problem with hospitals not letting your significant other visit, then take it up with the hospital, not using government as a tool".
To which the other persons reply is some offtopic blurb about how homosexuals deserve stuff, or don't.

I don't really get the arguement/ debate going on.
I understand the arguements, but I don't understand why.
Why do people have such problems with gay people? What did they ever do wrong? There really shouldn't even be a question about their rights. They should be allowed to get married if they want to, they shouldn't be treated any differently than a straight person.
If gays can't have the same rights as straight people, why should women have equal rights? Should we not allow women to vote again, like back in the day because they don't have man parts?
Why should African Americans have equal rights? Should we take away all their rights again, make them go back to the plantation?
All of what I just said is very racist, and sexist. Which today, would not be alright to do or say.
When? When will people realize the mistake of treating gays differently? It took so long for both women and African Americans. It shouldn't take half as long as it's taken.
Hell, it should have never been an issue
Basically, If we don't treat them equally, why should anyone be treated equally?
Note, I believe in equal rights for everyone, just using the above as an example.
