Run into its aggro radius and get it to follow me to the ground? This is the best way I know, followed by an instant cast as soon as you're close enough to the ground to not get hurt too bad from the fall damage. That or always keep a parachute cloak on-hand for these times.

1. Fly up to mob
2. Taunt it
3. Hope there's a mob nearby on the ground
4. Charge said mob, when in range
5. ?
6. Profit
Ofc, this method involves the possibility of death and requires fast reflexes. You'll need to take two mobs at once, but beggars can't be choosers.
Have fun!

if interested in trying engineering, these
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=54998
seem to have farther range than any gun, bow, or spell i've encountered in game. apologies if i'm wrong on that. i've found them very useful for shooting at flying things that refuse to agro even when i fly through them. dismount, quick rocket to the face, pop parachute (if needed, rogue safefall ftw), slaughter creature, profit :D
