I'm assuming that means the hunter receives a permanent 10% damage buff which does not apply to the pet.
That's still a really nice buff. Should be like a 5-6% increase in overall DPS.
Then again I havn't raided as BM since 3.08 so I'm not sure what % of DPS a BM pet accounts for anymore.

Yeah, for some reason i forgot to account for the loss of 8 seconds of BW.
I did some rough math and came up with ~2% increase assuming the pet does 45% and the hunter 55%.
Sadly, that doesn't appear to be nearly enough.

Arcane and either multi OR Aimed, you mean.
They share a CD.
Hunter burst is limited to SV L&L procs or MM CD blowing.
Aimed, Arcane, Chimera, Readiness, Chimera, Aimed, Arcane. That's some good burst for ten seconds if you can avoid being stunned or feared.

It looks to me like Blizz is attempting to make BM competitive but can't figure out how to fix pet scaling without making Hunters overpowered for the other specs.
/Agree, though I still dont think it will totally bridge the gap.
That said, I still think the best idea is a "glyph of beast mastery": this glyph makes your 51pt BM talent provide 50% crit and armor penetration to the pet.
It will be a required BM glyph, better than glyph of the Hawk, and there will be no way the extra damage would go to SV or MM.

yeah... i don't think it will bridge the gap in the long run either.
It might
possibly
(potentially at best) close the gap for maybe Ulduar or ToC level gear, but then BM would possibly fall short again (not by much) in Icecrown Citadel gear.
I like the idea of the Glyph but I'd suggest a different approach:
Change the
Kindred Spirits
talent to add or increase scaling of Crit, Haste and ArP to the pet.
Of course pet scaling is still possibly a problem for MM and SV as well. A pet that does 15% of total damage in Ulduar gear might do 10-12% in IC gear because of scaling and itemization.
That's fine as long as the total damage scales in line with other classes in the same level of gear.
That means BM can possibly get scaling as a standalone that helps keep it in line with other classes and hunter specs.
... if you're still reading I think you might have a sense of how complicated it can get...
Because of all that I suspect we might get more bandages as new content is released but no true fix until Cataclysm if at all.
I'm fine with bandages as long as they get refreshed with new content.
No, I agree. There would be no point to them trying to "fix" pet scaling now, they wouldnt waste the time when they are going to completely overhaul the entire system in the next expansion.
On a related note, when I put my data into femaledwarf.com I get about a 125dps increase in BM in 3.2.2--nothing stellar.
Also, it removes the dps "buff" that going into aspect of the beast during BW provided--making the spec even easier to play. BM hunters who didn't aspect switch, therefor, they will probably see an even larger dps increase.
I would not be surprised if the "ideal" BM raid spec changes slightly in the next patch, to maximize hunter damage a bit.
