I'd take the red pill. What satisfaction is there in the blue pill? Living long enough to see all of my family die? So what if I get to live for longer than everybody? I'd rather have a good time in the years that I'm alive than to live forever until I'm killed (either by disease or being assassinated, the chance for those increasing the longer I live) or commit suicide.
Plus, food tastes good. I want to eat food and like it.

Cricket, you would make a great dictator. Cause, you know, you're always right.
Inorite?
In all seriousness though, Cricket, you do realize that you can't force your own opinion upon others by returning to every post that says that they won't take the blue pill and repeat your not so logical rationalization over and over again, right?

I'd look at it in terms of how much average utility you gain from each. With the blue pill, I think you'd be happy about not being able to die, but eventually the thrill of that would diminish and yet you still wouldn't die for some long time (unless you kill yourself, but if you kill yourself, I imagine your overall happiness is very low). On the flip side, I think the red pill would make you very happy, and since you wouldn't live as long, your overall increase in happiness would be larger relative to how long you live. Therefore, in terms of utility or happiness, I think you'd be better off taking the red pill.

It's how I feel - I am not reasoning how right or wrong this feeling is. But it seems that if a (wo)man can change the world so much within a lifetime... imagine how much
more
can be changed in, say, three lifetimes.
Is there a selfish part to my choice? You betcha! Do I want to live for a ridiculously long time so I can accommodate more knowledge and wisdom than any other human being in the history of the world, at the end becoming a sort of a living god?
You betcha!
However I believe that as long as I balance these selfish desires with worldly service, things are all good.
About the worthiness of the "normal" people, when compared to me... On one side, it will suck to know you have, what, 50-60 years maximum to conduct your researches, and then there is this person who, with a tad of luck, has centuries upon centuries... I guess it would be intimidating for almost everybody else, which in a way might hinder the individual progress of some scientists. But going back to your original question - I wouldn't feel too bad about it. Because in a way I am dedicating my entire life to a noble cause too - I am just dedicating
a lot more
.
And I've seen the argument about watching one's family and friends die, as the blue pill user remains the same. It wouldn't feel good, but I doubt it will be as devastating as some of you imply it to be. The best thing about love and happiness is that they are not essences with finite amounts. They are infinite. Yes, my beloved ones will die. Yes, I will mourn. How long can a human being mourn a single loss - one year, five years, ten years, fifty years,
a hundred
years? I doubt we'll get that far. Emotional wounds can heal just as effectively as physical ones can, and I believe that after so many years I will be able to find another love - unless I decide to transcend above things and fall in love with the nature, or with some weird philosophical concept. Would I remember the deceased beloved ones for the years to come? Most likely. But I intend to savor those memories as good memories only - like the memory of the first kiss, for example. Good to have, stays with you even if you are no longer with the same person, and you don't feel a sense of betrayal to neither your new partner, nor the memory of the first one.
Did I get too far with this?
