While the entire situation is funny, this line has to be the best thing I've read on Wowhead in months. Just trying to wrap my head around that as a valid metaphor is just exceedingly amusing.

was in a rush to get out the door this morning when i wrote that..had no idea what it meant but it felt right.. now that i read it again it starts to make sense
but yeah,
swipe hits everything
the weapon shoots out fire hitting everything
the shield hits everything that hits you
and the chant hits everything within range of everything it procs on that you hit
just kill the shade of erenikus then watch as every dragon, dragonkin, and whelp in the instance comes rolling around that corner

By "dont" I assume you mean "try this at home" which means when I get a chance I will have to try it.

well sure but it's a bit of a kick in the ass when you pull an entire floor of ST which would otherwise be NP but due to all the procs on this and all the numbers you're beating out of the mobs you get the above metaphorical anomaly
admittedly it'd prob be fine with floating text turned off but i like to see how my damage output is as a tank since it translates so easily into threat
stuck on the mac till i get my PC fixed which is the one i don't mind putting addons and all that fancy-ness on

Problem with your math. 0.999 repeating is a rounding, which cannot be used as proof when it is so close to number one. 0.999x10 is not 9.999, but rather 9.990. If you're going to round, it ruins the validity (for example, if I round 1.7 and 1.8 both to 2, since both = 2 when rounded, I can say 1.7=1.8 under this logic).
This is an issue with rounding fractions converted into decimals that do not give a "nice" number. 0.999 only equals 1 with regards to multiplying thirds in that you are at some point rounding the 3 down to a zero, since that 3 is ever repeating. Technically, to make thirds work, one of them will have to have the last digit rounded up to a 4 (go to a grocery store and buy something 3 for a dollar. It will almost always give you price of 33 cent, 33 cent, 34 cent or something like that). Similarly, if you put 2/3 into a calculator, it doesn't give you 0.6666666, it will give you 0.6666667. Thus, 2/3 + 1/3 = 0.6666667+0.3333333 = 1 =/= 0.9999999.
Your source is wikipedia, which is nice, but I'm not sure how valid it is. It is true, 0.9 (repeating) easily rounds to 1, but that doesn't mean it equals 1.

Offtopic ftw.
0.
999
is as "equal" to 1 as any limit is "equal" to its solution...
x / (x+1) is a pretty good way to demonstrate this, if you plug in x = 99999... you'll get the correct decimal to the same number of 9's that you input, so to get 0.
999
(repeating forever) you have to plug in "infinity" -- or take the limit as x -> inf, which is 1.
(
lim (x->inf) x/(x+1) = 1
)
0.
999
repeating forever is
infinitely close
to 1, and therefore can be treated as equal to 1. Just as you can't quantify what "infinity" actually equals, you can't differentiate between 2 numbers that are infinitely close to each other. It seems somewhat pointless to argue about whether or not 0.
999
is
equal
to anything however, since the whole reason we put the Bar there is to denote "this goes on forever like this but there's no better way to explain that than with this bar."
(Another quick analysis, to get 0.
111
, you use the fraction 1/9, to get 0.
555
you use 5/9, and to get 0.
999
you use... 9/9 = 1.)

(lim (x->inf) x/(x+1) = 1)
That's a much better proof, IMO. The one linked in the post above mine seemed to simply assume that rounding meant equal to (not exactly, but you know what I mean).
It's sort of the 1 = 0 equation - while technically correct, if you checked it at each step it would be incorrect.

glad my sig is of such a distraction to everyone after all this time =)
it's gimmick math it's meant to be more of an amusement than a profound life changing message
beats calling everyone scrubs in my sig or a picture of a roflcopter, failboat, or waambulance

It's always fun to see how people can't beat their heads around infinity and limits (at least when you are somewhat math oriented).
@skribs : none of the proofs on the wiki page (or hashmel's sig) use rounding. The notations might be somewhat confusing at times but it's all mathematically exact

It was profound and life-changing for me. As I grasped the nature of infinity and found myself staring into a never-ending abyss of 1 - 0.

I simply lost my grip on reality. That's kind of changed things.
Did you also happen to have recently smoked, insufflated or imbibed something that wouldn't generally be classified as "food"?

would a "bear pie" count as a druid consecration?
the correct answer to "Does a bear crap in the woods?" is "Sometimes...we just let it drop whereever we may be." so watch ur step when /following your druid tank
