Firstly, Welcome to end game :)
Secondly, relax! You have done the hard part, now its time for some fun!
Im terms of Discipline, it's the right way to go for heroics. Mitigation is great while your learning the ropes.
As a discipline priest you will want gear with stats in this importance,
- Spell Power
- Intellect
- Critical Strike Rating
- Haste Rating
- Spirit
Discipline is fueled by critical strike rating. Each critical hit we do offers mitigation, therefore get as much of it as possible.
----------------
Here is your spec! Its pretty much a standard Discipline spec used by everyone. You can't really vary anything for a much bigger gain anywhere else.
----------------
Gear
In terms of gear we need to try and get you some fast epics. No doubt on your way to 80 your managed to get a fair amount of gold therefore your first port of call the AH to buy yourself A
Darkmoon Card: Illusion Trinket. Usually these are in there however if not, look for a
Darkmoon Prisms Deck. ou can trade it into the darkmoon fair, to find out where it is, look at your calendar.
Now again, going back to AH for rings you also can grab yourself a
Titanium Spellshock Ring. Very nice i hear you say! or, from the lovely people of dalaran you can purchase a
Signet of the Krin Tor!. If you are mr. money bags, you can also purchase yourself
Je'Tze's Bell. A solid trinket for any priest.
My advice however is to get the Darkmoon Card: Illusion ASAP, it really is a great trinket to have!
-----------
Heroics
Second is heroic's. Your first port of call is the Nexus. Your going to want to update that lovely weapon of yours to the
War Mace of Unrequited Love. After that heroic, your off to Upgarde Keep to grab yourself
Annhylde's Ring. that's 4 epics already!
After that you can try Violet Hold for the
Azure Cloth Bindings. Excellent Wrist piece!
As you get more familiar with how disc works, you can start to branch out to any heroics. They are all simple.
---------------
Gems
Third is Gem slots. As discipline and as you gear up, your main focus should be on Spell Power and Intellect. Once you hit 17k - 18k mana, you can start to think about geming for crit. But until then say hello to your new best friend, the
Luminous Ametrine. Pop this in every single gem socket you find regardless of color. you can't go wrong!
thats the basics. Try it out. Wowhead is your bible for all loot. look up your instances
here, and start healing!

Haste is bad for a dinged 80. Talents give us enough and Borrowed Time will cover everything in heroics up to naxx. When your get yoru first few socket items, its really, really important to get your spell power and Intellect (Passive Crit) up as a priority. Haste will take too much crit anyway at low gear levels. thats 5% haste could have been 5% which could have made your life gearing up much easier.
Wait till you hit Ulduar before you start to stack any haste over crit and switch your gem pieces around. That being said, if you come across an item which has 30 spell power more than your crit item, with haste on it, then take it. Spell Power > than all.
I also forgot to mention a meta gem. If your lucky enough to grab yourself a helm with a meta in i recommend for a fresh 80, the
Insightful Earthstorm Diamond. If you go for this gem, then once you get a piece of gear with a blue socket in, you need to fill it with a blue gem like
Seer's Eye of Zul. The mana restore is good for in times when %^&* hits the fan.
Zora is right with the tabards, i forgot about that. O, and the trinket from ToC normal, however, get yourself some practice before you leap into there, its pretty movement heavy and has some advance mechanics for heroic standards.
