Wow, that's crazy. You mean you guys are opening tickets to ask questions about game? not to fix issues, which I thought GMs are there for?
I read another similar post, but where a guy just opens up tickets to waste GM's time.
To answer your game question, I believe if you buy one of those inscription books, you will discover more recipes. I have yet to max out research, but yes you won't get any more recipes from research.

Well, lets see the reasoning behind my ticket.
1. This isn't inscription, its alchemy, you don't "buy" a book to learn stuff.
2. There is a research that has a 3 day CD, with mats that cost about 50g. No where in the tooltip does it say chance not to discover, or if maxed, no further discoveries will be made. No where in Blizzards official documentation does it mention it, nor how to tell when all new recipes have been learned.
3. New patch just came out, everythings buggy as snot the last few weeks. Seeing as in note 2 theres no indication that this shouldn't have worked, this could appear as bugged.
How many times did you &*!@ on the toilet seat before you realized you needed to put it up?
I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, you obviously weren't intentionally wasting GM's time.
I follow this rule:
1 - if I know something is a bug (lets say tank gets hit for 40k in naxx, which happened to me, not crit, not any kind of enrage, just 40k hit ... which is actually a bug they admited to having with druids not accounting for armor bear form gives), than report it.
2 - if I don't know it's a bug, than ask in guild/trade, try to look it up online.
Blizzard doesn't talk about max/min much. You mention you didn't know what happens when you learn all the northrend alchemy, well what happens when you're over hit cap? Blizz won't say, maybe you magically gain +crit? maybe the text displays in red so you know you hit it? no, nothing happens, it's a wasted stat. At least your 50g didn't go down the toilet, I believe you still got some elixirs.
The 15 dollars you mentioned pays for more than just support, and by asking the 2 questions, you already probably spent close to 15 dollars for them to look at ticket, come up with answer and talk to you. (salary-wise, maybe you didn't get the answer you were looking for)
Microsoft has a policy of charging per support ticket unless it's a bug. So if you call them with support on some enterprise-level software package and it turns out to be a bug, than it's a free call. But if you're just asking a question, they charge about $1,000 to answer it. So you basically called with a question, not a bug.
Not that you should be charged $1,000, but there are better ways to find answers to questions.

Kind of on topic, I've often wondered how without going outside the game to a resource like wowhead how a player is suppose to know to stop blowing mats on alchemy or inscription research. I ran into this problem when I switched profs on an alt to inscription when WotLK first hit and hit the end of the minor glyphs. Sadly I don't recall if the mats were refunded or if they just got burned up.
A little off-topic, but going along the lines of things from blizz being unclear. I've seen more than a handful of people with BoA armor befitting their 1-39 armor proficiency instead of their 40+ proficiency. I'm talking about shaman/hunter/paladin/warrior running around with leather (hunter/shammy) or mail (warrior/pally) BoAs. I realize that looking at the stats of all of the pieces it should be pretty clear which stats fit which classes, but blizz doesn't state anywhere that what's plate and mail at 80 will become mail and leather respectively below level 40. the most common is a Hunter or Enhancement Shaman with

or the PvP version. I understand that some may want these pieces to service multiple toons, but I've spoken to a few and they're not too happy when I bring this situation to their attention.
These are very good points in my opinion. I guess they figure if you are a serious enough player to ask yourself these questions you have the resources to find the answers. Most of my friends who are very casual could care less about these kinds of things or just ask me or someone else they know in-game.
That doesn't mean you should have to go outside of the game to figure these things out though.

Had another interesting conversation with a GM last night as i was working on my Alchemy.
I did a Northrend Alchemy Research and did not get new recipes. So my question was simple, if i do not discover anymore recipes, am i maxed out now?
His responce was he could not give out game hints, and I should visit Wowhead.com to find out if I'm maxed out on learned recipes.
Thats the second time in the last month i've been either referenced to Wowhead, or had a quote sent to me from Wowhead by a Blizzard GM. And in fact, thats the only two times I ever put in a ticket, so that means 100% of their responces to me were direct referenced to Wowhead.
For the $150B Blizzard rakes in every year, i'd hope they give a kickback to Wowhead for helping them with tech support and being a main resource of information on their own product.
I don't see a problem with this.
The GM was forbidden from giving out game hints, so he pointed you toward a reliable source.
More than I would've done...
