Spent around1200 or so gold to twink out a character at 49, which I promptly deleted a few months later.
2 Months later is definetly not promptly.
I hate buying Pets but i want achievments.

Bought a Chopper for my hunter alt (fitting mount for an engineer and all...) only to realise that I don't like it as a mount. :/ Plus the hunter is my least played alt now, by far my biggest waste of gold until now.
At wotlk release I decided to stick with my freshly dinged lvl 70 pally for starting out... so I thought I'll need a good weapon cause woltk areas will be tough, bought some blue weapon out of ah for 100g and replaced it within the first 30 minutes of leveling...
At lvl 80 I got myself titansteel bonecrusher crafted (used it for tanking) only to get the tanking sword from UP like 2 days later... complete waste of mats. Thinking about it, about every craftable item I got myself made was replaced within a week tops (leather pieces for my rogue, weapon for my hunter, cloth robe&gloves for my lock...)
Oh well at least it's really easy to get gold nowadays

I have countless gems in the bank I don't use thanks to patch 3.2...
Damn Delicate Scarlet Rubies...
Sell em! I found that blue gems still have a market.

Then TBC was fresh, around a few months in. I was already gathering gear in heroics and thought that good fury deck trinket would be handy due me being a paladin tank so holy dmg and that 51 stamina was not bad.
So i started farming gold and dungeon for it, eventually after a month or so i managed to get enough for two of them.
I head over to the darkmoon faire and try to get my trinket then to my horror i realise something.
Only one trinket can be used.
I was kinda heartbroken due to the ammount of gold and time i invested. I did get alot back selling the other deck, but it was not nearly enough that i spend gathering it lol.

Haha, well. I guess...
I TBC, while farming gold for epic flying (well, Isle Of Quel'Danas dailies) I hit 4k gold at like 5 in the morning. I also hit exalted with SSO at the same time.
Yes, I ran and bought the 1k gold title before I got epic flying. A title I NEVER use.

Paid 500g for epic ground riding skill for my 5th alt, figuring that patch 3.2 would still be a month or so coming. 5 days later the patch came out, and the price dropped to 50g.

I don't count the mammoth, hogs and other mounts i bought as stupid spendings. I made a few errors however in the past.
Back in Vanilla, before AQ came out : bought the T1 warlock belt from the AH for 200g (~ a third of my fortune back then) due to a misclick. Never managed to sell it back to anyone, and ended up using it on my warlock alt who reached 60 a few days before BC came out, to level in Outlands :/
Also bought something for 99g99s instead of 99s99c due to one of those annoying sellers betting on others mistakes before Blizzard changed AH ordering rules (to prevent this very same behavior).

Spent 2k gold on mats for Nesingwary 4k at like lvl 76ish. After dinging 80 I ran my first Heroic (H UK).
Drake Mounted Crossbow dropped... I used the gun all of one heroic run...
