It does seem the Alliance get shafted in this expansion but meh they get friggin Worgen. It also makes sense. The Alliance have one major disadvantage that, whilst the Horde have, they don't have it as much.
The Scourge.
TL;DR version:
I'm not saying one faction is better than the other. I'm just saying both have been through !@#$, especially the Alliance, which seems to be why the Horde are slowing taking over. Because they CAN, they have the upper-hand currently. The Alliance is preoccupied with the Scourge, with Arthas, with Northrend. And that's their downside.
Both factions have this problem, but the Alliance was hit the hardest. Yes Horde members died, thousands died and got converted to the undead. Alliance however, lost whole cities, whole areas. They lost Lordaeron TWICE (by two different sects of Scourge). They lost entire cities such as Stratholme, they lost an entire set of Paladins (the Silver Hand, Uther). They also lost a King and a Prince who was taken by the dark.
I think it's a little more than understandable that Alliance morale isn't what it once may have been. Azeroth was never the Orcs land
(hell it was never the Human's land either but they never came in and friggin burned and destroyed existing civilizations).
Regardless of what Thrall's beliefs are, and regardless of this "New Horde" he speaks of I doubt the Alliance would ever trust them.
The Old Horde, the band of ruthless Orcs that came in with their demonic masters and tore the world asunder (literally, see the three continents, guess how they got that way lol)
dealt an incredibly large blow to both factions.
Human's lost entire lands to the Undead, and to the demon Orcs and Eredar (and other demonic entities). As did Dwarves. The Gnomes lost an entire city to Troggs. The Draenei lost an ENTIRE PLANET for crying out loud. Night Elves lost over half their race (High Elves but that was their own damn fault, differing of beliefs and opinions, etc).
Then we have the flip-side. The demonic Orcs killed everything and make it extremely hard for the New Horde to reconcile with their past. This is evident by ongoing wars with the Alliance. The Trolls were exiled and lost their cities, also nearly got wiped out. The Forsaken Undead well, they died and became undead. That's pretty bad in itself, they were also shunned away from the people they thought they could trust. The Tauren? Not so keen on their lore tbh. The Blood/High Elves lost a leader, lost an alliance (with the Humans because most humans are still xenophobic) and were exiled from the rest of their elven kin for their beliefs and way of life.

Wow.....
The Alliance was hit hard and the horde wasn't... Lets see...
Last I checked, the Horde was just as occupied with the scourge as the Alliance. Look at Northrend if you don't believe me. They are just as occupied with the scourge, Arthas, and Northrend. Or maybe Horde won't have access to Icecrown Citadel since they're not "occupied" with it as much as the Alliance.
The current Orcs are all that remain of the invasion in the second war between humans and orcs. They were placed in internment camps, so there obviously wasn't many of them (compared to humans).
The Trolls are just one tribe from STV that decided to join Thrall.
The Tauren were wanderers in the Barrens until Thrall came to them; their lifestyle didn't permit large populations.
The Undead are a
sect
of the scourge that broke out of the Lich King's control.
The Blood Elves are a group of the already small number of High Elves. They were by no means
half
of the Night Elf population. And not splitting with them would be like continuing to support nuclear weapons after a nuclear holocost almost destroyed the world and all in it. The High Elves werre the old aristocracy; you seem to be under the impression that the aristocracy is larger then the lower classes.
Seems to me that the Alliance has a huge advantage in simple numbers.
But hey, its clear to me that Blizzard favors horde (druid forms...giving horde land...).
You do know we are talking about azeroth in the present and not about past azeroth and other planets...

Before Cenarius helped they were kicking ass
No they weren't....before Cenarius intervened the NE were getting their asses handed to them by the Warsong Clan(remember in this phase of WC3 the player controlled the Horde)
But as it relates to Cataclysm, it's probably because the NE are engaged in a full diplomatic mission with the Worgen.
how do we know that during the opening quest chains, the worgen don't wtfpwn the forsaken, and push into silverpine?
think the Argent Crusade quest-chain in Icecrown, heavy on phasing and the like.
Pushing into Silverpine? Why don't push into Hillsbrad Foothills and make Southshore usefull?

My god, seriously, half of you have no idea.
Please, go learn more about lore before setting something as fair or unfair and please refrain from telling people incorrect events.
And please, stop this thread.

Just to clear something up, the continents are that way because a faction of Night Elves known as the Highborne tried to summon Sargeras through the Well of Eternity. Bad things happened.
I'm not saying the Horde is completely innocent, some of the Higborne became High Elves (and later of course, Blood Elves) but the Orcs themselves are in no way responsible for the Sundering.
Also someone else complained that Medivh wasn't responsible for the opening of the Dark Portal because he was under Sargeras' control. If I were to accept this logic then the Orcs are not responsible for anything they did before the end of the Second War. Thats just asinine. The parties involved have admitted in the Lore that despite whatever was 'controlling' them they were still responsible in part. Just saying.
