1.) Shammy will always bloodlust at the start
Yep, he BLs about 15 seconds in.
Mass Dispel
it.
2.) When we actually downed a mob it was the Warlock, and to our dismay the Felhunter did not disappear with his death. We speculate this to be a glitch?
The Felhunter isn't actually treated as his minion, "*Warlock's* Felhunter" is just it's title. If it were his minion, it would follow him around... Instead, it acts as its own mob. It has less than half of the Champion's health, and (from my experience) the healers won't try to heal it. Just assign a DPS who is bored (Warlock on Tree Duty for example) to kill it... It should only take him a moment.
3.) CC Tactics: Banish works on the druid, but not for long. Polymorph, Fear, and cyclone primarily. We haven't tried to sheep the tree, but it shouldn't work since the form's prevent polymorph to players.
Its called DR. The "bosses" in this encounter act like super-powered players.
4.) HoTs from the tree heal for something like 30k a tick with rejuv on 25man, which makes it pretty unreal to try and just dps through.
L2
Purge
/
Dispel
5.) Melee dps mobs are the most dangerous. We have been wiped so many times when our plan was to CC certain mobs, and the casters in charge of this have been waxed almost immediately by the Enc Shaman or Warrior... they hit like a SOB even to the tanks.
Have your taunting classes run faaaaarrrr away from raid, then Taunt... Once they are faaarrr away from raid, have a druid Root them or a mage nova them. Its about chain CC and mixing it up, not about holding aggro.
6.) The priest or the pali (i cant recall) has an ability to reduce the damage taken by 90%, and will effectively shut down the dps burst if they are the first target, which produces a wipe.
Did you mean
Pain Suppression
? Start spamming
Purge
/
Dispel
. You will get it eventually.
7.) The dimishing returns on a mob apply to the individual CC used on the target regardless of the caster. Our raid had like 4 warlocks, and when we tried to chain fear one after the other we found he became immune, so that idea is out.
L2
DR
. Once again, they act like players so read the PvP section.
8.) We were banishing the tree until his DR made him immune, and in his small moment between the banish casts he would rejuv... bla bla bla fail at Chain CC bla bla bla...
Find a Warlock who does competitive arena play. Point at the tree druid. He will know what to do. If you can't find an experienced warlock, it goes something like this:
8 Sec Banish -> 10 Second Fear -> 4 Second Banish -> 5 Second Fear -> Shadow Fury (3 Seconds) -> Spell Lock (3 Sec Fail, 6 Sec success) -> 8 Second Banish -> REPEAT INFINITUM.
9.) Using tanks to occupy melee dps worked at first until they became immune to taunt, eventually becoming unable to "tank" and would start to wipe up our squishies.
See #5.
This fight is about clever use of CC and making sure all classes know their roles in Dispelling, CC and Focus.
Random Tips:
-A Priest's Fade actually makes the mob stop attacking him for its duration. By the time the duration is up, the mobs random aggro function will make him attack someone else. USE THIS TO STAY ALIVE PRIESTS!

Purge/Dispel is one of the most important aspects of the fight.
We always killed the healers first (places an enhancement-shaman on the holypaladin for interrupts, and a warlock on the tree, while the rest nuked the shaman), then we focused down specific DPS. Warrior usually was first.
Once the healers go down, the DPS go down pretty fast.

You have to think of this fight as an arena match, not a PvE encounter. The problem with most players that only attempt PvE content is two fold:
They do not move around enough
They do not use all their viable skills.
A player must be able to be versatile, IE: dispel if they can, cure if they can, CC whenever possible, interrupt whenever possible, and use snares and immobolization skills.
Good examples of this: A warlock should be spamming fear or using deathcoil when a target goes on them to prevent incoming damage. These spells are normally never used in PvE content, but are acutally incredibly useful in this fight. A warrior tank should probably intervene blows on a friendly target, and hamstring whatever is running after that target. There are countless other examples of this, as PvP generally involves using more skills then Pve content.
We had issues on this fight with our healers being trained until the dps figured out they could snare the enemy npcs and the healers/ranged figured out they would acutally have to kite the target. Once that was settled, it all fell into place.

The first couple weeks of doing this encounter we focus fired the Shaman and other healers first, had tanks trying to take care of the melee, and other CCs flying.
We ran 10 man today and it was getting bad. Maybe it was because we were only running 2 healers, but we just couldn't handle the damage that was being put out.
So we "ignored" the Shaman healer (meaning we tosses some CCs on him and counterspelled him a bit), and focus fired down the Warrior. The warrior went down quick, then we turned to the mage.
It seems to go SO much easier taking out the damagers first. The first few attempts I was staying tanking gear/spec and trying to control the warrior, and the DK OT was trying to occupy the DK Mob. I ended up switching to damage and topped the meters on the fight as Arms, so that was definitely a big help too; got me in there doing something instead of kiting and doing no damage.

My guild hates this encounter with a passion.. they just would rather do Ulduar then the arena fight. I really hope we've just had some bad luck with combo's or something, last thing I need to do is just hope some pug I join can do it..

This may sound obvious, but bring a shaman. BL/Hero at the start makes things so much easier. I've only done this on 10m, which means 4 dps, 2 healers, We just start with a fearbomb > sheep or cyclone on more difficult healer (pally or druid) and just burst the priest down asap while throwing in a couple stuns to interrupt him. Taking 1 healer down fast makes the fight alot easier; after which we just burst the 2nd healer down quick as well. There's definitely a luck factor involved; sometimes you just inevitably get tunneled by 2-3 dps all at once and might lose people quick.

wowiki says that unlike player pvp, after 3 CC of same type champion bosses will become immune to that type of CC
till the end of the fight
. is it wrong information?
I honestly can't say. I have only done the encounter once on my lock, and I wasn't on CC duty (no resto druid). The other times I do it, I do it on my priest... However I have never noticed an "Immune" message when fear bombing.
If I had to guess, I would say it is incorrect information. I am like 90% sure that they share the same DR functions as players. Thats the thing about wikis though, you never can tell if little pieces of information like that are accurate...

Definately wrong. I've reapplied CC of the same type to the same mob for many minutes. Obviously waiting for the DR to fade.
