I love my sub rogue, and will shed a tear or two when I hit 70 and respec him to something that is better suited for raids. The thing I'll miss most is Premeditation, which adds two combo points to the target, and makes my first finishing move that much quicker to execute.
I'll probably go combat swords and try that out. I didn't realize there was so much hate out there for sub rogues. =)

It comes from getting a rogue in your group thinking 'hey he'll be good dps' and then having hm be out dpsed by the tank because he's lolstep specced and is using no plus hit gear.
I specced shadowstep daggers briefly at 70 becasue it was the best option for weapons I had at that point. I couldn't spec away fast enough- just beyond terribad for PvE. Fun for PvP though, but the novelty wore off fast.
As of right now (64) I usually lead groups in DPS. I'm sure that will change when I get to 70, if I ever do. (taking a long time...) Either way, I'd rather trust experts who have played longer than I have for advice than my own "personal" feelings. =)
I'm sure for raids sub spec wouldn't be good just because of mobs, but for me since I usually just fight one on one, I love it at the moment. Tried combat daggers a couple levels ago, and I thought it sucked. Just have to get used to it when I switch at 70 I guess.

If you lead groups in dps as a shs daggers rogue, you're in with some terribad dps.
I wouldn't doubt it with some of the groups I've been in. Maybe I'll try respeccing again tonight and see how it goes.

you do know that using rupture / kidney shot in mob grinding will only delay thier death longer where as with evis and S n D the mobs will die much faster. Befor i read remx leveling guide i was alos sub and maybe got in 2-3 mobs before bandaging now i can down 4-5 more if i use AR evasion and trinkets
I usually don't use rupture or kidney shot. And I usually have to bandage after 2 or 3 mobs, so I guess the other way is better. =)
Like I said, the main reason I like sub is because of the premeditation and preparation. But I guess I can learn to live without them.

I just respecced, and I really dislike it so far. Maybe I just need to learn the way to use it. But I'm finding myself really sucking at fighting mobs. Seems like it takes longer to kill them. I'm not about to pay to respec back though, so I'm stuck with it for a while, so maybe I'll get the hang of it. =)

Thanks to the original poster who was just trying to provide an honest account of leveling a rogue in a way that does not conform with the cookie cutter combat swords build everyone has such a boner about. I'm a casual player and interested in having fun, so hearing a first-hand account of a rogue in his/her 60's who has had a successful and enjoyable leveling experience in both PVE and PVP using a spec other than the ONE found in "Rogue for Dummies" is of interest to me. So, thanks.
Just because something is mathematically more efficient, doesn't make it better. For instance, if you don't enjoy playing combat swords, no matter how much more efficient it is, it won't be "better" than a spec that you find enjoyable. It'd be one thing if the original poster titled the thread, "ZOMG COMBAT SWORDS IS GIMP FOR LEVELING, USE MY BUILD INSTEAD!"
