I'll be on my Blood Elf priestess, probably in a very erm....slaggy robe (after all, it's a female character) And I'll see 6 worgen charging me. They all simultaneously yell "LOLROFLWORGENCOPTAZ IMA GANK B4 MAI BEDTIAM!" Which will cause me to kite them to a cliff. I will jump, they follow. Another
one
six bite the dust. Don't you just love Levitate?

Actually every change in the Warcraft Universe since Warcraft 1 is convoluted, or may seem convoluted by those who simply stand blindly to ideals. Specifically when we are talking about a new game, or expansion. Not only that but almost everything we know about the new class options, and much more is vague.
I don't see your point
^^.If you honestly think that
every change in the Warcraft Universe since Warcraft 1 is convoluted, or may seem convoluted by those who simply stand blindly to ideals then of course you don't see my point. Not every change or addition to the lore is vague or convoluted.
I said something similar to the following in another thread: There are ways to do it right, and there are ways to do it wrong. Not every change or addition is a catastrophic collapse of the lore, but neither does any old change automatically get to make sense just by virtue of the fact that it's been added.
The fact is, based on
every
bit of relevant lore written into the Warcraft universe so far, Paladins deriving their basic powers from anything other than the Holy Light makes no sense whatsoever. Period. As I have said before, the sun paladin thing are simply pallies who have learned, as a component of their abilities, to utilize the power of the sun. At the core of that character class, they are still Light-wielding paladins. Even the blood knights had to get their powers through that one Naaru who willingly allowed them access to the Light.
Consequently, if Tauren paladins get to be paladins with no lore to support it beyond "they worship the sun lolz", then Paladin lore is now broken. Not irreparably so, but if they just leave it there and don't even attempt to fit it in properly, it will remain broken.

As for Tauren Paladins, the conversation of one of the druids in Thunderbluff states there is an imbalance between the sun and moon. Since Druids are taught the way of the moon by Night Elves, they may look to elven influence again in the Blood Elves, who not only are capable in teaching the paladin ways but also take great stock in the sun. They are both members of the Horde after all.

Now that's interesting. If it
is
established that the Blood Elves teach it to them, then it'll make some sense. And I hadn't considered that the sun thing might lead to a connection with the, of course, sun-themed BEs. In retrospect that's a potential connection that should have occured to me.
See, I'm not saying Tauren
can't
be paladins or anything, all I want is for it to be consistent and make sense. If they do it that way you just described (and not just "we start worshipping sun, we haz pallies now"), it'll be consistent and will actually make sense.

I don't see why a Paladin cannot be he who defends the worship of Sun, the faith of the new Tauren Priests through more "warrior like ways".It can't just be that alone, because the Holy Light is a type of magic/energy unto itself--the Light does not have a literal association with every light-emitting object in the universe or something like that. There is no lore supporting the Sun being composed of the Holy Light.
Therefore, unless that were to be changed and the Sun did somehow have something to do with the Light, then worship of the sun cannot by definition result in the powers of a Paladin being bestowed upon anyone. It's really that simple.
I fail to see why the Sun worshipping Tauren is even comparable to previous retcons in Warcraft lore. Such as the faith in God turning into the faith of the Holy Light from one RTS to the other, or even the Draenei retcon.
I also don't believe that it was done so wrongly, there are evidence of Sun worship among the High Elves and even Paladins who could use the power of Sun, they may not defend it as a faith, but it shows that this power can be used. The "god" concept from the older Warcraft games was simply a deification of the Light itself. Again, this illustrates the difference: they thought of the Light as "God."
Unless the Sun is composed of the Holy Light, or otherwise has a direct connection with it, then sun worship does not and cannot allow access to Paladin abilities. That is the difference.
As for the high elves, they never worshipped the sun. Neither do the blood elves. They simply use it as an important symbol in their culture and in their rhetoric; it's not worship at all. Not to mention their ability to be Paladins has absolutely nothing to do with it anyway--they (and the dwarves as well) were trained in the ways of the Light by the humans during and after the Second War, which is an extremely long time
after
the sun became associated with their culture.
