Walter Conkrite died. He was a bigger influence than MJ. But did he get 3 weeks of media hype? Nope.
The voice of the nation. They had a special on him running a few days ago.
That isn't even close to the worship MJ was given. I'm not saying that Cronkrite should be worshipped, but I do think it's pathetic that we worship some dumbass singer (who had an annoying singing voice) over someone who actually had an important influence on the media.
In fact, I think it's pathetic that half the American population worships any celebrity.
I was agreeing with you. :o I really liked the special though.

It would be really cool to have the one and only MJ as a dance trainer in the game. Regardless of whether or not you like him or followed the fanfare, if you were born in those times you knew who he was.
A lot of rich or famous people have crummy personal lives...it's a shame a lot of us strive to be blessed with that which is a curse upon others. Regardless what we think of him, he sold the records. People listen to the music. He's a celebrated artist -- and no amount of denial or negativity is going to change that.
It's a question of respect and remembrance. He had an impact on just as many people as those who claim he had none. On that note, we should probably have an Elvis or Beatles memorium, too...but I think MJ just fits the scene much better.
I mean, we got Paris Hilton...=/

Um, guys .... he was a performer. That's all. How about a little bit of perspective. He danced, he sung, he didn't cure cancer or discover the Northwest Passage, or end world hunger.
He made a lot of money because our society overvalues entertainment and pays too much for it. Now he's gone, and other people will dance and sing, and charge too much for it.
Guess you didn't know about his generous charity contributions. Also, I don't believe in world hunger. There is plenty of food available in the world -- the problem is some humans don't believe in sharing. Have you shared lately? How much food have you thrown away in the last year millions of disadvantaged third-world children would have drooled over? Even if you live your entire life giving everything to charity it would be hard to match Michael Jackson's contributions. Him and MC Hammer were great in that respect.
I know I'll probably never be able to give that much...but I intend to try and if we could follow examples such as those and of Mother Teresa or Princess Diana so far as charity work, maybe we'll make it through this thing for our children's sake. We can't make it alone. We have to pull together.

Arideni ftw. I'm not claiming to have been his biggest fan, but his influence cannot be denied. Paris Hilton...erm, Haris Pilton sells us bags. Why can't Jikal Mackson teach us dances? It'd be a good gold-sink if Blizz really wants to remove some gold from the economies. 1000G per dance, and they're activated randomly upon /dance? Seriously, why not?

Trying not to turn this into "Dance system suggestions," but I think a K a pop (get it, pop?) is a bit much. We have to make sure the system can be more accessible to other characters, lower level characters. Everyone will want a new dance...and not have to be 60 or 70+ to get it, you know?
...and yeah, I do tend to get carried away sometimes. Off to other threads!

No thanks. The NE dance is enough.

...but I think a K a pop...
I see what you did there!
Either way, just having the ability to learn new dances would be sweet. I don't care how or even if Blizz implements it, but it would be a feasible way to pay tribute.

If you think of the average population of WoW that thinks he's a child molester, it's best to keep him out.
