When I started playing, I created my Rogue, now i didnt choose him cause i thought rogues were OP. I rolled a rogue because I liked the aspect of being able to sneak up on someon and use a move like garrote or anything that would render them...well pretty much dead lol.... I also liked the aspect of having burst dps and being melee, not to mention its not too bad that they are one of the fastest classes to level in the game. oh yeah and also because everyone that had a Lock was complaining how they hated rogues because how they could never kill them...I do PvP
I tried a mage but i found myself meleeing way too much so ranged arent really a good class imho, however i am liking the mix that is my shaman, a little ranged to get them close and then BAM hit em with a windfury on or something now thats nice.

So how bout you guys? Why do you play the classes you do?
Worth noting, I don't PVP.
Early on in Beta, I got sick of lackluster healers that didn't know how to skillfully play their class. Yes, the game was new then, however that's no excuse.
So I made Priest my main on 3 different accounts I've had over the years.

I picked Druid because when I used to play Dungeons and Dragons (back in the day with dice and graphpaper) I always preferred the Priest/Holy magic user types. Plus I was drawn to the versatility of the class, since I figured it would give me a good taste of all of the different things you can do in the game. I'm also sort of a jack-of-all-trades personality in real life, so that suits me well.
I tried rolling other classes and can't ever get them past 12 or 13 without realizing there isn't anything I can't do on my Druid already.

I joined when TBC was just out but i had only the vanilla game. Reading through the manual the class that stood out was the hunter "I can use the second best armour, have a pet(I saw this as double damage), and shoot people from far away?" I choose nightelf for my race because they got to ride tigers, what could be cooler... (apart from a proto-drake)

I started playing a few months before BC came out. At the time I knew very little about the game. I hadn't really played any other RPG's before WoW so I didn't know what to expect. I thought about it for a bit and decided to roll a priest. I knew they were great healers and that alone sounded like something I wanted to do. I look back now and don't regret the decision one bit =)

When I rolled my first character years ago it was a druid because when I played warcraft 3 I really enjoyed the Entangling roots spell and I thought it would be neat to be able to cast it in wow too :)
3 years later it's still a fun spell, especially in pvp.

I first picked a Warrior, a tauren warrior. If you wonder why it was because when I clicked 'Create Character' Tauren was the first race to pop up, warrior the first class. So I just picked a name then pressed 'Enter World'. Then my friend (which I didnt know was playing WoW before I was like lvl40 and too lazy to reroll) wanted me to come to his server (Talnivarr, my warrior was at Doomhammer at that time). Of course I did not feel like paying 200 swedish crones for a server transfer, so I went the cheap path and made myself a DK at Talnivarr the second I dinged 55.
Now, Im addicted to my DK ;)

when i first started playing wow it was right before lich king reared its head. about...a week actually.
my friend had told me about it at work and i thought i was alright.
at the time the only rpg's i had ever played were...final fantasy, and the elder scrolls 4 oblivion.
so i bought the trial and tried it for the 10 days or however long u have. then i actually bought it and got to town on horde side because thats what my friend played. i tried every class, again, and still couldn't find something i liked until i played paladin. i found i really liked the class and i really liked tanking for instances. it was hilarious seeing a ret tanking every low level instance from rfc to SM.
still have him at 80 tanking raids.
loving it :D

I have no idea what i would do at end game so it doesnt influence my class selection. I just play what feels fun to me at that given moment.
THAT is the way the game should be played!
