On a more serious note, does anyone want to tell me why this world is so $%^&ed up if God is so perfect? Anyone want to tell me why every day, billions of people are starving to death? Why every day, hundreds of little kids that have NO control over their life are raped?
If god (notice the lower case spelling) is so perfect, why does all of this crap happen to people every day.
Let me answer my own question:
I think all of you are wrong. If you were God, you would do nothing different.
Let's look at this from a scientific standpoint. Let's say that if there is a God, he is perfect. If God is perfect, then if you were God, you would be identical to the God that we have. If that were the case, you would make exactly the same decisions.
Spoiler:
THERE IS NO GOD LOL.

If I were God, and I existed... I wouldn't get all upset when people don't believe in me when I don't give them a strong reason to. I also wouldn't try to force people to love me.

Since when did this thread become an argument about religion and not "If you were God"?
Umm... As soon as the words "if you were God" were used, it became an argument about religion.

since his were closer to the ones I was expecting,
Here's a thought, MyTie: If you want create a topic, with the intention of gearing a debate / discussion towards a particular avenue, you know what you could do? Instead of creating a false-floor subject and then oh-so-cleverly pulling the rug from under 5 people's feet (After 20 minutes, I will add -- good show of willpower there. You just couldn't help yourself and wait a bit longer, could you? Even at trolling, you fail unbelievably due to your impatience), you could, say,
make your intentions clear in the OP
, with a well-written post that, from the outset, conveys your perspective and the direction you want the thread to take.
Deliberately obscuring your own point undermines the purpose of your thread way more than any of the above responses can do. Getting sanctimoniously indignant later on in a thread because people don't respond to the thing that you want them to respond to, because it's not
clear
in your opening post, is plain stupid. You're not clever and you're not superior for doing so. You cannot create a cogent argument for toffee if you rely on these pathetic, confusing rhetorical devices used purely for dramatic purposes. It doesn't make you a good writer or a clever debator, it just makes you look like a child who's determined to be "Right", even if the only thing you're doing to be right is telling people to look for a needle in a haystack, when the needle is actually in your back pocket.
Congrats, you fooled them all. Have a cookie and shut the hell up.
EDIT: Soylent Green is made of people.
My opinion was that nothing would change. That doesn't necessarily make me right. I actually read an ethics paper yesterday that says there are 'neutral' ethical decisions. For example, I might stop right here and heave a sigh. Was that wrong or right? Well, neither. I believe God could be perfect, but have done some stuff differently perhaps. I don't know this, but even I do not believe my own points completely. I only 'pull the rug out' to make people think and debate me, instead of making +1 comments. For that, I was successful.

Wow... this would have been great to get in on the ground floor of.
To begin, it amuses me how MyTie quickly dismisses all answers that don't wax poetic on the innate perfection of (the christian) God, and instead answer the stated topic.
To answer that stated topic: I would give humanity obvious scientific proof that i exist, and that i am, in fact, a god. However, it would be foolish to assume that this mere gesture would be enough to end all religious wars; if history teaches us one thing, it's that there is nothing humanity loves more than war (not that that's a bad thing). However, i would be more than happy to assist my followers against the hordes that assail them, by burning said hordes off the face of the earth.
I would be, after all, a fire god.
Now, to MyTie's obvious unstated purpose: to inform those of us who do not believe in the christian god that we are WRONG, and that (the christian) god is perfect.
Answer me this, MyTie: has your god ever committed or encouraged an act which you would define as evil without the cop-out answer that 'God is perfect and therefore inscrutable to mere humans'?
I eagerly await your response.
Earlier I did say I would be willing to examine other understandings of God, no matter how much I may personally disagree with them. I would encourage you to read all of what it is I write before coming to such quick judgement. If you notice that before my comment, the only halfway serious answer was ArgentSun's short blurb. After my answer, this is a pretty healthy debate going on. That was my intention. To stop the "I'd turn rocks into cheese" comments, and get people to actually examine God. To do that I had to bully thier positions around a bit. Seems it stepped on a few toes, as expected. I don't regret that. But I would thank you for not assuming to know my reasons.
To answer your question about 'God' committed or encouraged an act which I would define as 'evil': Well, yes, probably. What I define as evil is pretty specific. I am more than likely wrong on some things. I can see how this would conflict with an omnipotent being's account of things. I would like to think I have it figured out, but I could see myself being wrong.
Does this answer you to your satisfaction?

Successful in derailing the topic of this thread. The topic is IF you were a god entity, what would you do. That is all.

I love how any discussion about these actions is 'off topic' to you. Your head must be as dense as freshly cut pine.

I would fly down to earth with one hand in the front, land close to a big crowd and introduce me as
Superman.
If anyone would question this statement as being false, I would stare at them until they had two new body holes.
People would be scared of you and in their hearts, they would hate you.
Edit: Thanks for the link to superman, btw. Without it I would've had no idea who you were talking about.
