I said already I'm not concerned about whether you disagree or not. I'm simply pointing out that Squishalot is unfairly demeaning towards the people who are invested in the issue........He said it was in response to the article, not the people....
I already made a reply to that point.
You did, but it was more calling him out for thinking differently then you do, and for making a snarky comment.

That is the entire issue I'm having. Disagree with them all you want, as everyone here has done. Don't demean them like Squishalot.

He wasn't
demeaning the victims of the tragedy or their families
, it was a snarky comment about how the article is barely news, which in all honesty, is completely true. The only people who are going to jump on this building are conspiracy nuts who think Muslims are really South Koreans or those who think everything and anything is disrespectful and insulting and the entire world should have all of those objects, piece of arts, creativity removed from existence.
And for someone who isn't sensitive to the issue, you really seem to have a problem here.

Squishalot: "Apparently it's an offendable offense to build two square-based buildings side by side these days."
These people who have had 9/11 impact their lives in real, horrible ways find something offensive, and all he can do is mock it by pretending like it's the fact that they built two square buildings that these people feel offended.
I'm not sensitive to the buildings, I'm sensitive to the attitude of apathy concerning these emotionally hurt people.

No, he's mocking the attitude everyone has in regards to it; the building isn't even being built in America, it's being done in South Korea, and the way it's being built is just for the fact that people will complain about it....however: He's still not mocking the people who died or the ones they left behind.
And like I said before....I find the whole 'Quick! Because it might possibly hurt someone's feelings, rip out any and all images of the Twin Towers from all media, whether it's a good image or a bad one!' mentality to be incredibly idiotic. The original trailer to Spider-man was awesome, when it had the bank robbers caught in the web between the Towers, and I was looking forward to that scene in the movie....and then 9/11 happens and that was cut for one of the many generic muggings in the movie. There are episodes of old cartoons that were pulled off the air, and will never be reaired, because they have the Towers in them, and something threatened them but didn't damage them.
Seriously, people need to dial back on the PC, and realize disasters happen(especially from idiotic humanity) but rather then give in to the fear, embrace it and kick it's ass. If the survivors of 9/11 really have this much of an issue with a building they'll forget about in a few weeks well....sue the city where it's being raised up, and make a squawk about how it threatens their rights.

Precisely, people who are emotionally distraught are being mocked. I find that reprehensible and something that any empathetic human being wouldn't do.

People don't have the right to not be offended.
As it's in another country well.....and most have agreed it's just there for the shock value.

No, not the families, he's mocking the PC crowd, who want to make everything bland and horrible.

He links and article and mocks the people in it who are finding this offensive. The people in it are "families of victims of the 9/11 attacks". There is no mention of political correctness or conspiracy theorists.

I hate that ad. I hate the music. It makes no sense. Why are they lecturing me on stealing movies on the movies I bought from them? People who pirate the movies don't put the ads on the pirated versions, so they are preaching to the choir.

Jubilee, I didn't see you raging at people to stop mocking MyTie for being Christian. What's your angle that's gotten you uptight in this case?
That being said, I've said my angle. People get emotionally distraught over a lot of stupid things. Are we going to get offended by camo paint, because it's related to blackface? You think I'm being dismissive about the fact that I think it's a completely different shape - that's precisely why I'm dismissive, because it's a completely different shape, and that any offense it's caused is a storm in a teacup.
This may be the funniest thing that's happened all year...
You know those "You wouldn't steal a car" anti-piracy adverts? Turns out, the music that's used in the background is actually pirated. That's right, they used music without the author's permission in an advert to try and stop people from using content without the author's permission.
You couldn't make this up
.
Amusing, for sure, but I'd be interested to see what the contract was, compared to what he
says
the contract was. It's entirely possible he signed the rights away to be used in anti-piracy contexts, and he didn't realise that the anti-piracy group intended it to be used internationally.

MyTie is here, in a debate, bringing his religion to the argument of his own choice. He is not emotionally distraught, he is advocating bigoted laws, and I have no motivation to defend christianity.
The people you seem to not give two thoughts about have experienced something quite horrific and have quite the emotional baggage from it, they aren't even here to speak for themselves, and having been in New York when it happened (but thankfully not losing anyone to it) I feel that I can relate to them.

I think you are being dismissive of why this offends them, not how.
