I've seen a lot of violent things in this world, thanks to the internet, and I will admit they are things that no person should ever see...
But this one... shocked me the most...

That's kind of an old video, isn't it? I could have sworn I had heard something like that.
Also, that website... has some kind of dumb videos.

And some dumb comments.
But yes, the phenomenon itself is disgusting. You can't even really defend yourself if you don't see it coming. The best you can do is just stay away from any group of thug-looking people.
This is a goddamn nightmare for race relations, too.

@#$%ing ghetto rats, I blame the parents. This is why I carry a weapon. And see, this is why it's such a complicated problem.
Remember the case with Trayvon Martin? It can be really hard to judge whether a person has innocent or hostile intentions. If they hit you first, you might very well not get up. If you pull your weapon first, you might yourself end up being the aggressor.
I think the most important way to stay safe is to travel in groups, be wary around crowds, and stay off the streets in bad neighborhoods, if possible.

I'm not going to let anyone make me feel guilty for laughing at that.

Zimmerman was a marvel of irresponsible gun ownership. Whether Travon martin was a scumbag or some sweet little kid, doesn't matter, Zimmerman should have stayed in his car. That being said, if I was just minding my own business and somebody attacked me like that, I might very well shoot them assuming I can't handle them with my bare hands.
Skreeran, you live in Texas, where it's pretty easy to arm yourself, and there's relatively little gang crime, so you might not realize how bad some %^&* gets. I live in the second most prohibitive state in the country in regards to weapons, right outside of the city that is one of the highest per capita in regards to gang violence. The town I actually live in is nice, but the area around me can get pretty bad, and it's all led to a pretty ridicules situation.

I'm not sure who I'm more upset against. The sleazy politician who not only lied about 90% of everything he represents just to "see if he could win" and then openly bragging about it all smug as if he somehow "Showed them all" or the people in his district, who are so obnoxious, absentminded, and shallow sheeps that they'd just vote for whoever, without any regard of their political agenda, just as long as their skin color is how they prefer it. THIS is how you guys use your freedom? that liberty that other nations crave so badly, and its wasted in shallow shows of supremacy?
From what I've been able to gather after asking hundreds of people from the US (on this website, and on my server in wow) Obama has done a really horrible job as a president, but if he's so inept, why did he won in his reelection campaign? Unlike here, nobody is FORCED to vote for him, you don't get fired if you don't vote for him, you don't get shot if you don't vote for him, you don't get your goods seized by the government if you don't vote for him, so why would people still vote for him? Are people seriously voting on someone they KNOW is not fit for the job, just because of skin color? Is this how so many US folks treat their privilege of a democracy when in so many places (like mine) others would die to have a system like yours?
Sorry if this sounds like a rant against US citizens (I guess it is) but its very frustrating to see you guys treat your liberty like this. Its akin to a poor kid wanting a delicious ice cream with all his might but not having it, and then see a rich parent buy a HUGE ice cream to their bratty snot-nosed spoiled kid, only to have said kid smash it against the wall and throw mud on it.

First is the amount of influence that social conservatives allow the religious right to wield in regards to issues like gay marriage. Secondly, in the crumbling economy people have become more and more aware of just how much influence the wealthiest 1% of the country has over politics, and since Republics support the most unrestricted free market and maintain a mantra of fiscal responsibility through low taxes and restricted government spending (on programs like social welfare and science) a lot of people have put the responsibility for the division of power between the rich and poor on them.
Coming in the wake of the Citizens United v. FEC Supreme Court decisions, which basically allowed corporations to donate an unlimited amount of money to political candidates, many people attributed the 2012 election to a contest between the wealthy 1% and the rest of Americans. Mitt Romney was very prominently religious, and extremely wealthy, making a lot of his money in Wall Street, which put many voters off of him, as they believed he was the perfect Republican puppet. A lot of moderates who voted for Obama did so because they believed he was the lesser of two evils.
Although, since you mention it, both the 2008 and 2012 election saw record numbers of minorities, in age groups that normally don't see much voter turnout, come out to vote for Obama. Personally this angered me that somebody who had probably never even seen a debate votes for a president because of his skin color. I don't think that's what MLK dreamed about. Even his slogan "time for a change" seems as though it was just a way to capitalize on the race issue, given that he changed almost nothing after being elected.

People around here were shocked that I didn't vote for Romney, who shared my religion. My response? If he talks like a scumbag and acts like a scumbag, he's probably a scumbag. He only cared for the religious right and the wealthy, and that's not what I stand for.
I think that Obama hasn't done a half bad job, considering the conditions he's had to work with. Yes, he's made mistakes, but he was a far better candidate than Romney. That's why I voted for him.

I voted for Romney and given that particular choice I would again. That being said I don't think that religion has any place in politics, and Romney was hardly the ideal Republican or the ideal president. Ron Paul would have made a good(ish) option, but the CU v FEC decision put an end to that. No way anybody who would threaten Wallstreet's federal piggybank is becoming president as long as big business and their media lapdogs have anything to say about the primaries. Not that I'm trying to sound like an OWS idiot. I understand realism and I believe in the free market. I think that what we need is for people to be more educated about those that run the country and become more involved in the political process. Party polarization is greater now than at any point in history, and with the majority of Americans being moderate, what does that tell you?

Several issues plaguing the UK education system, reported by the BBC and neatly blogged by BoingBoing.
As a husband of a primary school teacher I can certainly attest to the prevalence of Comic Sans in schools. How can we expect children to develop a normal, mature typographical sense when we bring them up on this dross!?

Pikey, you're focussing on the jokey, flippant part of my post (and the BB article) and missing the actual point.

I am COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY DISGUSTED.
I wanna puke now.
For those who didn't clicked the article: Apparently if you're rich enough you can get away with murder, rich kids are too wealthy for jails. Anyone else who had less money would had gotten 25 to life for killing 4 people, but hey, if your parents have bank accounts into the 10 digits, you are above the law.

Ugh, yes, I saw that the other day. Apparently the kid just gets "rehab" and a slap on the wrist. That's just wrong.
