I love it when people post something after me in News Articles thread, so that I can post ANOTHER article.

Yeah, saw that one a few days ago. Honestly, I'm not surprised. His clothes are for tools.

Did you see the video of the kid buying all the A&F clothes from second hand stores and giving them to the homeless? Take that, ugly CEO man!

An interesting study.
That study (the survey, not the Swede's, although theirs also reads kind of weak) seems awfully vague.

An interesting study.
Racism used to be a social "game", where people would try to be the most racist, because that was the cool thing to do. That was the "in" thing back then, to be as racist as possible. It was out of pride.
Racism today is a social "game", where people try to be the least racist, because that is the cool thing to do. That is the "in' thing now, to be as little racist as possible. It is out of pride.
People then took it to silly extremes, to the point where people of different races weren't even
people
. People today take it to silly extremes, to the point where you are racist just for being a certain skin color (also irony, lol).
So I don't flip out over racial issues, typically, except when I see them present themselves in my every day life. That's what the world needs, people to demand tolerance on an individual level, not express self righteous outrage at the general perceived injustices of the universe. So, yeah, people are pretty intolerant in the Middle East. They don't want people of another race as their neighbor. Sure. I get that. That's not the way it should be. But, the problem there isn't always "they are another race", though it can be, but often is a problem of racial violence. If blacks beat the hell out of you several times in your life because you were white, and there were big racial divides still in your society, you probably wouldn't want black people living next to you. So much of the culture of these places is
built
on racism. You can't look at it as an outsider and say 'oh their racism is bad', without at least having an understanding of the history, which in some of these places goes back over thousands of years, and encompasses several wars. Racism isn't the sole root cause of these problems, but tribalism, differences in culture, even topography which has kept people divided has played a role, plus economics, religion, etc etc etc. It's fun to pull up a map and say "oh look how tolerant we are", but I believe that is based in nothing but pride in your own tolerance, which is built in ignorance of the individual situations.

"Being anti racism isn't trendy. IT'S JUST THE RIGHT THING TO DO."
Just gonna leave this here.
No doubt, Elura. It's just that some people do it because it is trendy, or they are self righteous. Take most of these anti-racists, and drop them in the past, and they would be racists, because they are bandwagon zombies. Sure, they are doing the right thing, but for the dumbest of reasons. It's like modern environmentalists, or feminists, or homosexual rights proponents, or any of these other causes that people rally around to make themselves feel like they are fighting for something, or because everyone is doing it. It's the modern "church", where we go to atone for all the wrong we have done by doing something right. It's not for the cause, but for ourselves. I'm not saying the causes themselves are not good, but the people that fight for them are often so disingenuous that it is sickening.

There's bandwagon zombies everywhere though. Here in Texas, it's trendy to be homophobic, anti-intellectual, and Christian (before you say it, I'm not saying those things are inherently linked, just that they're all core parts of the culture here). There are lots and lots of people here that I am completely convinced, by their actions, do not actually believe in Yeshua's word, or at the very least, have no interest in applying it to their lives.
In terms of the arguments here, I'm fairly certain that most, if not all, posters have put a lot of consideration into their beliefs, rather than just riding a bandwagon.

I don't get you Pikeyboy, but, more to the point, Skreeran seems to have the right idea; no one here needs to jump on the bandwagon to seem to have an opinion - that could be just as easily accomplished by not posting. Or logging out.
Social pressure is a not a factor here is what I'm saying.

If it's trendy to be anti racism, then go be trendy. Not standing up against racism to be against the "trend" is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Taking any action whatsoever with the 'trend' and not honest personal beliefs as a compass is stupid.
