NYC beefs up security at theatre and Paris cancels Batman.
I wonder how what's his face who directs these feels about this.
Is it a great mystery how Nolan would feel about it, really?
... It's really grating how Fox consistently mis-spells the title.

Well, he had a great expectation for that day, probably more-so than any of the fans. This is a huge huge blow to him. I'm not really asking how he feels toward the tragedy of mass murder, but just how much it would suck to have some personal link to it, whether to be a family member, or a witness... etc. It would be very traumatic. I've always been interested in child development psychology, and to a lesser extent criminal psychology because of the effect it has on people.
Do you have to be so negative toward everything I post? I don't know what it is you want to accomplish by being so grating. Please make an effort to be nice, or just ignore my posts.

Patty has a point: It's the way any artist, director, author would feel if one of their openings ended up with a mass murder happening and others were shut down because of it.
I'm just waiting for the crazy moral guardian section of the world to start screaming how this is the new thing that makes people kill other people(like Rock and Roll, Video Games and all the rest).

No. People don't react the same to these sorts of tragedies, especially when they hit close to home. Some people become sad, some angry, some cynical, some vengeful, some stoic, etc. The psychology of the rich and famous, on top of the variation in average humans, creates a dynamic of psychology that is different than what we are used to. I'd love to sit down with this person and talk about it with him. This isn't an "oh he'd be sad duh", and done. So, yes, I do wonder what they are thinking. To be such a... uhm... meanie when dismissing my off the cuff question isn't necessary.

I wonder what snaps in a person that they just go to a public place and randomly kill people. One of the victims was 3 months old, another report said they saw a police officer carrying out a girl of about 9 with gunshot wounds. What could push someone to do that?

For "normal" people, its not even something we can imagine. I have, in my lifetime, felt both anger and sadness that were so bad, I just didn't know what to do. But I did no what not NOT to do.

It's horrible, Elhonna. It's pure evil.
On a related note:
ABC
, in an attempt to politicize the batman massacre, tries to make this about the "tea party". Of course, they are wrong, and have to apologize. See, all the news stations are idiots, not just fox.

Ok. Enough serious business. Time for some humor:
Nancy Pelosi calls for Romney to release tax information. Someone points out that Pelosi hasn't released her taxes either. Pelosi calls the demand for Romney's taxes a "
distraction
".

Hrmm, past three decades seem to feature the
US and China
prominently (possibly due to both being in the top 3 countries by population). The US has higher intentional homicide rates than any other industrialised country and higher incarceration rates than any other country.

I do have to wonder what a 3 month old and 9 year old were doing in the cinema for that film in the first place. Obviously I'm not detracting from what happened, but you know. It's not exactly the most child-friendly film.

You know...if it wasn't the finale of the Batman trilogy, this shooting would have ended up on page 4 of the New York Times, and not gotten national news coverage.

My God Adamsm, what are you smoking?
This is one of the worst mass shootings in US history. It would not have mattered where it happened, it would be no less of a story. The only thing that "Batman" added to it was dozens of unecessary headlines about the killer calling himself "the Joker", and insensitive questions about what kind of impact this will have on box office sales.

It's mainly the fact that there have been mass shootings before this and sadly there will likely be a lot more before the end of the human race.
The loss of life is horrible; but it's true that a lot of it is sensationalized because of when it happened.

What? .... ... I'm still trying to comprehend your post.
Really?
You think a man shooting 10 people dead, and wounding several more, including babies, is only news because of the movie the victims were going to see?
...
WHAT!
I'm still reeling in shock.
You are very very wrong. National news happens whenever there are mass killings. Even the killing of a few victims is usually news. This is a pretty good indicator to me that you don't watch a whole lot of news.

My daughter is 7 and I would take her to see the film. Guess I'm a bad parent.
As far as the baby (3 month old) s/he was probably sleeping or otherwise occupied. Thats what
most
infants do when taken to a theatre. I will say 'most' because yes, I have also witnessed some insane temper tantrums by them too.
