Obama To Freeze Spending On Everything But Military

Some choice quotes:
His budget proposal, to be unveiled in part with Wednesday's State of the Union speech and in detail next week, will urge Congress to keep overall spending at $447 billion a year for agencies other than those charged with national security and mandatory-spending programs such as Social Security and Medicare.
Annual deficits as of last year are forecast to total $7.1 trillion over the next 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office, adding to a total federal debt expected to reach $13.6 trillion by 2019.
The part of the budget that would be frozen represents an eighth of the total annual budget, spent on such operations as the Departments of Commerce, Education, Interior and Justice and agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency. The Department of Defense's new proposed budget would dwarf military spending sought during President Ronald Reagan's time in office.....defense spending would average $632 billion per year between 2011-2028, with a high of $670 billion in 2028.

How does someone look at that figure and think "
Hm yes what we need is more military spending!

It's not that we need MORE military spending, it is that we can't promise not to spend more on the military. The campaigns that are underway have to continue to be funded, even expanded, if necessary. We can't afford for the military to sit idle while other countries continue to build theirs.
Simply not true. America spends more than twice as much as the next 5 countries combined.

Dolphins are now persons, but unborn babies still aren't.
That's sick that animals have more people that feel for them than for their fellow man.
Well if you actually read the article, it's a discussion saying that it's immoral to do something inhuman to something as intelligent as a dolphin. Being that a Dolphin is more intelligent than an unborn baby...

Wow... Stupidest policy ever. Okay, all sexism aside, how the hell are you going to be a sex offender on a public plane? The kid says one word and everyone knows.

With hindsight, perhaps it should have looked fishy from the start that the British public had decided to take sides with the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Campaigners for a "Robin Hood tax" watched with alarm as thousands of votes poured into their website, rejecting their proposal for a levy on City wheeler-dealing, to raise money to fight poverty and climate change.
After a bit more investigation, though, the unlikely backlash against the rob-the-rich plan – almost 5,000 no votes against the Robin Hood tax within 20 minutes – turned out to emanate from just two computer servers, one of which was registered to the investment bank Goldman Sachs.

This thread seems to be the only one worth reading on the front page of randomness... the rest is forum games, lol barf, and more forum games....
As for the waterboarding article... /sigh... some people lack all common sense, parenting skills, and empathy. Horrible combination for someone wishing offspring.

"People should wear protective sun screen, sun glasses, sun hat and drink plenty of water in order to avoid these inconveniences - but, if somebody were to sue me for damage provoked by the Sun, I do not think any court would be that unwise to consider their claims. By recognizing that I am responsible for the damage from the Sun, the court would implicitly recognize that I do indeed own the Sun - which is ridiculous".

Sarah Silverman thinks making fun of fat women is
offensive
. I agree.... however... well... let's just say that Sarah Silverman should be the last person on earth to label something as offensive. Her jokes apparantly include jokes about starving children.
Starving children seem more defenseless than fat chicks.

Sarah only finds things offensive when they can be aimed at her; that's just the way she is.

Charlie Rangle broke ethics rules.
You know, I took a poll yesterday on CNN about Charlie Rangle. I don't remember the exact numbers, but over 70% of those polled thought Charlie Rangle was right to be punished. Lots of people have said he should step down. In related news, a whale at Sea World drowned a trainer in front of live audience. A few days later, Sea World started the show back up, and they are keeping the whale in the show. CNN opened a poll to see if the public opinion was with Sea World. When I took the poll, less than 50% disagreed with Sea World.
TLDR: Most people think an unethical politician should lose his job before a murdering whale.
Scare factor:
Crooked Politician > Jaws
