People are idiots, Doc. What can I say?
After 110 pages of news articles, I went back to examine the first article posted to this long and endearing thread.
This
article was the OP's article. It talks about the overreaching federal laws and regulations that can land you hard time in prison for mundane and unsuspecting acts. Scary.

I've considered that someday I might consume some pot. I like to know my facts before consumption, on anything, especially drugs.
Not sure if serious, but a lot of people say that the first time you do pot you can't really tell if you're having a high or not. It isn't until after a while that you can actually feel the difference between not smoking it, and then smoking it later on.
I was also told, if you don't inhale it and wind up coughing so bad right after, then you're doing it wrong.
Of course I heard all of this from the McDonalds I worked at which had at least 5 pot heads working there at once. Some of whom actually went on their breaks and came back smelling of it with bloodshot eyes. Also had some pot heads roll one while in the drive-thru waiting for their food to cook.
Of course it is the least lethal of all the drugs. But the thing you have to be careful with is that some people actually lace it with harder drugs so that sooner or later you will want to get that drug, whether it be Ex or some other form of crushed pill mixed in with the leaves.
And I believe this concludes the marijuana (haha I seem to have spelled that right on my first try) tutorial.

If I consume pot, it will be pot that I grew, and I'll eat it, not smoke it. Why would I smoke it? I don't want bad teeth, bad lungs, and smell of pungent cabbage.

Thanks Doc. Like I said, most of what I heard was from what I was told by co-workers. As for the last part about it being laced, I learned that from a project my JROTC class held in high school once a year. They said it was to get people to buy more weed from them at first since weed doesn't seem to be that addicting, but later on it would tempt them to try other drugs.
As for pot causing any harm to the body, it doesn't seem to affect much. I'm not sure how related it is to tobacco products, but cigs do have nicotine in it which can cause lung and mouth cancer. Weed doesn't appear to have anything wrong mixed with it, unless someone personally adds it in. It is a very organic drug. I would venture as to where it was grown would also affect how it would make you react.
My dad has smoked cigs for years, and I know from that smoke it turns some of the walls yellow. As well as his teeth. But I'm not sure if that's just cigarette smoke, or if that includes pot as well.
This one I know for sure though, the reason people mainly smoke it rather than eat it is because smoking cause it to get into the bloodstream faster making it reach the brain first. If you eat it, it has to get digested first before it can make it into your blood. But once it gets in your blood it can stay in there for up to 3 months (not 100% sure on that) after you stopped smoking it.

Another is the insanity of marijuana being legal for medical uses in certain states but not on the federal level and the constant raiding of legitimate businesses and harassment of innocent employees and patients.
I agree, somewhat.
First off, for sake of this discussion, I would like to point out something that I have discussed in other threads before. I am a recovering drug addict (almost 10 years clean). Trust me, if you can get high from it, I have done it. Some things, I did a whole lot of it. But, keeping on topic.....pot.
Honestly, of all the drugs I did, pot really ranked pretty low for me. I never really cared for being "high". For me, it was more of a "low". (Granted, my DOC was cocaine, and I ended with about a full year-long spiral with meth, so I was more interested in a rush more than mellowing out).
Really, the biggest issue I see with pot, is that people don't see it as being harmful
at all
. I look at smoking pot as being similar enough to drinking alchohol, that the same "rules" should be followed as you would with drinking. The one exception being, most people dont get "a little high". I know plenty of people that may drink a beer or two nearly every day, but those couple of beers really does not get them "drunk". I know several people that will smoke a joint or two every day, and just get baked as hell when they do. I know several people that see no problem in smoking a joint at work, but I don't know of anyone that thinks it would be OK to drink a pint of vodka at work. And my biggest gripe...I know people who see nothing wrong with driving high. Look, I have smoked everything from crappy Mexican brick weed, to some of the best Hydroponic homegrown, and never did I feel like I needed to get behind the wheel of a car.
So, as for the legality of it. Much like the case in our other dead horse topic, just because the law
should
be something, doesn't mean it
is
. Right or wrong, pot is still federally illegal, so there is no such thing as a "legitimate business", or an "innocent employee or patient". Since federal law trumps state law, all the businesses, employess, and patients are all criminals. From what I have seen( I do not live in a state where it is "legal"), the feds only step in when the businesses are doing something else wrong, other than selling pot. Either they are evading taxes, selling to people without a prescription, or other similar things. The same goes for the "patients". I think there would be a lot less resistance to medical use.....if it were actually "medical". Sorry, but every 20 year old college student I know in "legal" states has a "green card", and I a fairly sure they all don't have cronic pain or cancer.
Dont get me wrong, I agree there is no legitimate reason why it should be illegal.....but it is, so that law has to be respected. And if you live in a medical use state, and choose to use it, you are accepting the risk of being federally prosecuted.
EDIT***** I wrote this post last night after a nearly 20 hour double shift at work. Reading it now, it really did not come out quite like I had wanted it to, but Im gonna leave it up just for discussions sake. Maybe I can clarify my thoughts a little as time allows....however I am getting ready for another long work day, so that time isnt now :-)

A great article on iced coffee from all over the world. The Thai coffee is one of the few from this list I've had. It's very good.

And that is why other nations should stay out of civil war, there is no way to prove who was the real culprit behind the massacre and there is always 50% chance you will side with real monster.
UN observers disagree.

If the Vatican makes doctrine, and said that the nuns violated it, then they did.

I know- I just think it will be interesting if American Nuns, as a group, separate from the Vatican. It will be just a very large change.

I have mixed feelings on the matter.

Right direction or not:

?
I feel like it could work. At least, I won't mind not getting ridiculous sized soda's at theaters. Not that I buy them in there. The prices are jacked up and they don't allow food in so it's something crazy like 5-7 dollars a soda. I've mastered the art of hiding food and drink in plain sight/with only casual clothing.

Well doesn't alchohol contain a %^&* ton of calories? Why not do it to that as well, considering it does have other side effects.
Oh wait, people would get butthurt because they can't get really *!@#ing drunk and pass out at a bus stop.
If you regulate soda, regulate alchohol consumption.
