I and many others couldn't tame them, so they should be removed.
Not that it's your point, but some Ghost Wolves were straight deleted from hunter's stables, so they kind of were.

You know, when WotLK was still in beta and about to come out I saw the Vargul Blighthound wolf model and was like,
"Wow that is an awesome pet model! I can't wait to go out and tame one!"
Then WotLK hit and everyone and their mothers dog went out and tamed one. Same with most of the cool and
"unique"
looking pet models... so much so that I have seriously considered going back to Azeroth to tame some old model pets just so I can be different from the hordes of other Hunters out there... Since I hate the Worg wolf models, both the new ones and the old ones. We don't need just more variety, we need more variety that looks aesthetically pleasing and
"cool"
...

Honestly guys, I'm a hunter and didn't tame it. If you want to tame a humanoid, get a
priest
. I saw someone with it, and its a big pet that could get in the way.
It's over, it's done. move on to the next exploit...
I am confused---the worgen pet is not really large enough to get in the way. He is shorter than I am (female Draenei) and certainly smaller than my devilasaur.
Anyway, I think there is an underling issue. When I came into work, all excited about my pet, and told my coworker--showed her pics--etc. She was like "sooo. . . what?" (Mind you, she thought the hydra was totally cool).
So, I explained that it was cool because we could never tame humaniods before. She responded that it "sounded like slavery"

Listen, all it takes is one PR exec at blizz to go "I wonder if this sounds like slavery" to shut something like this down. They would be waaaaaay to afraid of someone (player or non-player) making a fuss. It wouldn't even be a monetary issue--settling out of court isnt too pricey--they would't want to deal with the PR nightmare.
The reason people got to keep spirit wolves in the first place wasn't out of the goodness of Blizz's heart, it was because of the PR backlash that hit when they were removed. Players and non-players alike were upset that people came up with a clever way of beating the game, and were punished for it.
With the ghost hydra and slime, I am sure the same thing went through thier heads "Should we pull and deal with all the bad press? Nah, let it go"
But with this one where it was "Should we pull them and deal with the bad press and angry players but save ourselves a potential larger pr nightmare? Um, yeah!"
As a graphic designer, I know there are services a new company (or an existing one releasing a new product) can send any new emblem or logo too, and they will do extensive testing and sample grouping to make sure NO one has a negative reaction to your mark. (For example, no is gonna go "hey that reminds me of something. . .that's a swastica!" For the same reason. Even if you can prove that any negative connotation was not your intention, and that you acted entirely in good faith, sometimes the company's image is in too great a risk.

Blizzard is a business, and as such, it would be better for them to shut down the entire game if needed (not that I am saying this would cause it--but something bigger might) and save the company, than to cater to only a small percentage of their subscribers, who arent going to quit (in all likelyhood) over something like this anyway.

And, on another note, I agree with the posters who point out this is hardly a unique pet. 2 days after getting mine, daleran was full of worgen posing like wrestlers. (though I still really, really, really love his posturing)

As it stands now
, hunters are often forced to choose:
I'd quibble with "forced", but I really want to emphasize the first clause. Hunters and pets will be getting buffed in the next patch, and BM hunters should close the DPS gap a bit with MM and SV. So if you're unhappy with the situation "as it stands now," take comfort from the fact that the situation is temporary.
(Relevant to BM hunters in 3.2: pet Expertise, Wild Hunt, Animal Handler, and Catlike Reflexes will be buffed.)
While I am excited about the BM buff, I dont think it will close the gap--nor should it. I play BM, and I do better damage than the 2 SV hunters in my guild (one who is better geared than I, but clearly doesn't know how to play, and one who is very good, and very poorly geared--his dps ties hers most of the time).
But I dont mind there being a "top spec". The best hunters, doing the most difficult rotation (in my opinion MM) should do the top damage. All I ask is that a more casual hunter, who prefers a different spec, should be able to play it and be viable and progress.
That said, I like the buffs, but I would prefer the better pet-scaling they have been promising us. Some resil on my pet in pvp would be a god-send.

Slavery, blah blah blah, PR, blah blah blah. Shut the game down to save face, PR, blah blah blah.
What are you talking about?
You know that there is plenty of slavery in Warcraft lore.....right?
Its weird-i wrote a big long reply to this, but i dont see it.'
Short answer. There is a difference between slavery in game (where often the players go and free the slaves, such as CoT or UB druid) and allowing players to own slaves. At least from the public eye.
And remember, the public doesnt know (or care about ) your lore. Hell, most players dont.

She's looking for a reason to start controversy, you're running with it like you have an axe to grind. If anything, it sounds like the buck private in the military that gets the crap jobs, we're not tying a chain around their neck and crackin' a whip.

And the guy has been a wolf... not a humanoid since release of wotlk... again WOLF not humanoid
No, he isnt a beast. The very questline indicates that he is a thinking, sentient, plotting creature. Sentience is often the defining issue.
