Not really trolling, I could see why someone (especially a class that can heal themselves) would neglect picking up first aid.
One: They don't need it.
Two: If they picked up tailoring (very good choice for a priest) their cloth could've went to that instead.
Three: There is no daily for first aid (as of yet) so there is no monetary incentive to buy it.
Four: Bandage at max levels do very little healing, while potions don't always do more, you don't need a skill to use them, and do it instantly.
Just because you CAN get all three doesn't mean that people do.
Having first aid has kept my priest alive to keep fighting when oom is on the way and things are looking desperate. It's quicker to fear, bandage and keep fighting than to heal, oom, die, corpse run, sort myself out and carry on. Just because a class can heal themselves doesn't mean it's always the best option.
I've also used them on others when I've oomed. Having first aid didn't take cloth away from tailoring. There is so much cloth that it's not a problem doing both at the same time, but I also don't power level profs.
OP: If you have the skill, use it. You trained it, therefore you have earned the right to use those items however you see fit unless it violates something you have agreed before the duel. Have fun dueling.

Wow this thread's still going on? Hey I'm quoted a few times in there.
Whether or not you agree with it (I don't.. but that's irrelevant) It's not just some "made up opinion with no bearing on reality" (lawl reality in wow *cough* FaaR). MOST PEOPLE don't like you to pot during duels. Again... Whether that's valid or not is moot. The point is people don't like it!
I don't make this stuff up... It just is what it is.
Who cares if the noob wants to waste a potion in a duel... because if you have to potion, odds are I'm going to beat you anyway, and when I do I'm going to laugh you right out of Org for being a $%^&*! and potting and still losing. *disclaimer, this is my personal opinion and has no bearing on lolreality*
Edit: Added a nifty link proving that I don't make this up:

Anybody who whines about you doing something like bandaging, healing, potting is a sore loser.
I've had all sorts of classes tell me 'no healz this time' before a rematch. My main is a holy priest.

Personally I think that you shouldn't use health or mana pots in any duel. It's a 1v1 based on a class and skill, pots shouldn't come into it!
I do however think bandages are okay to use in a duel. As they're easily interrupted and you have to time them correcting to optimize them, they're just as much a skill. Plus every person can do First Aid.
I mostly agree to this, plus eating/drinking in duel is, in my opinion, fine, since you need to make an effort to get out of combat and stay out of combat. I completely agree on bandages.
The problem with potions is that there is no way you could stop someone from drinking a potion. But then again, it ain´t fair that you can benefit from your profession in a duel but alchemist can´t. So if you´re duelling an alchemist, you can first decide if he/she can use potion or not. And all alchemist should be let to use flask/elixirs in duels, just like lw/tailor/bs can use gear they made etc.

Dueling random people is futile and stupid.
Making rules about dueling random people, doubly so.
(especially at really low levels)
What's the purpose of the duel? Just to have fun? It's not the Olympics. If you want to win, do what it takes to win. If someone really wants to set ground rules for this kind of thing, they really ought to do it before the fighting starts.
When I level a character 1-10 I'm almost always challenged to a duel at some point. But I never accept, even if I'm sure I'd win every time. Because whats the point? To prove I can beat a level 7 when I'm level 6? What an accomplishment. And if/when I win, what is my reward? Whining.
"You cheated, you used a potion!"
"..., you used a bandage!"
"..., you used X ability!"
"..., you used a cooldown!"
"..., you used crowd control!"
"..., you got out of combat!"
"..., you used a pet!"
"..., I wasn't ready!"
"..., you had buffs!"
"..., you had better gear; take some off!"
"..., you broke my stealth before I could hit you!"
hmm i had some experiances with this and its kind of stupid, ACCEPT WHAT HAPPENS DONT WHINE OVER IT JUST BECAUSE YOU LOST!
