Read my post above to see why I disagree with that last statement MyTie.
Just because you are dead, doesn't mean that you are automatically forgotten, and all memories of you are erased.
Eventually....

Eventually... there will be a cure for cancer.
Eventually... there will be a new "big disease."
Eventually... the inhabitants of Earth will use up all of it's resources and have to live in space.
Eventually... etc etc etc.
See how bad of an argument using eventually is...
None of these are 100% true eventualities, except for the one I listed.
There may never be a cure for cancer. We may never colonize space. There may never be a 'big disease'. However, if there is no God, you WILL be forgotten. That is 100% sure.

I don't understand how you can be so certain that without God, you will be forgotten.
How many people do you remember from 6 thousand years ago?'
Edit: @Zaputo - I just assue that a being that lives forever and knows everything would always remember me.

OK, but you also assume that family won't remember. And what I said has no bearing on being remembered by people after you're gone?
Family remembers you... but they die too.. as do thier kids... and thiers... after 500 years, you won't be remembered, by anyone. The actions that you took are meaningless.... Example:
How many people died fighting for the Brittish so they could keep the US? Why? Who remembers them? They DIED for thier cause, and now they are shrugged off.

I bet there are Brits who remember their fathers that died in the revolution. The only reason we don't remember is because they lost .

To you they get shrugged off. To the family members that remember them is a different story. You shrug them off because you didn't know them.

So being remembered by 1 person (God) is better than being remembered (according to you) by none?
You are still not answering my question on the point that I have brought up numerous times.
I think I am miscommunicating. Here. List your geneology back to the beginning of mankind. Can't? I didn't think so. Seems the really old ones have been forgotten.

Seems the really old ones have been forgotten.Their names may be forgotten, but the impact they've had on humanity continues. Civilization has changed over the millennia, and the effects of change could not have become how they are without the cause.

Eventually, time will nil all those effects. The earth is destined to crash into the sun. What will those effects mean then?

And this takes it back to the earlier argument. Laihendi doesn't know, and neither do you. The difference between you and Laihendi is that you assume that it is explained by "God". Laihendi has never heard anything about Earth crashing into the Sun, but there is the theorized
Andromeda-Milky Way collision
. That's still estimated to be 3 billion years away, and it's impossible to know what advances humans will have made by then (if they still exist), and how far they will have expanded (again, if they still exist).
As far as humans can comprehend, everything ultimately has a beginning and an end. That doesn't mean there is no purpose to existence, that just means that the purpose remains unknown. If people just attribute everything that is unknown to some deity that may or may not exist, and hope that somehow after they're dead they'll find all the answers, then no one will ever learn anything.
