So
Vindication
isn't worth taking for this spec?

Vindication is optional - but the way it's getting nerfed to be a reduction in AP might make it fairly pointless not to far away.
I can't find the post in Maintankadin, but it's labeled Prot DPS 3.2 or something or other. However, over there right now, they're realising the folly of stacking BV, since they're reaching the new BV cap. Luckily, our approach of stacking Strength in a Protribution build has no such drawbacks.

Check svirve's post in the Helpful Threads - "Consecrating your way to ding." for levelling advice and rotations.
Prot DPS is not a levelling option, because it relies on a skill that you pick up at L75 for your big damage, a skill at L64/66 for your general good damage, and another skill at L71 for your mana recovery. It's designed for single target fighting (eg, boss fights), where you have a tank to take the hits and you can focus solely on doing damage.
Edit: Does anyone mind adding this to the Helpful Threads section? Prot DPS will be coming under much more scrutiny in 3.2 with the changes to block value and ShoR.

ic. so its not a good idea to be a prot at this lvl.. at least not at this level right?
then i guess i have to go back to ret somehow :(
but thks for your help~
Not that it's not a levelling option, don't get me wrong!
Prot DPS is an end-game raiding style, whereby you DPS with skills usually used by Prot paladins.
As levelling, again, I refer you to svirve's guide Consecrating your way to ding - he talks about what you need to do to level as a Prot pally.

A lot of people are finding it difficult to get raid places, since nobody understands what Prot DPS is/does.
Once we get more evidence that it's a viable option, and start throwing DPS numbers in peoples' faces, it'll start to look more attractive to people.

So if you're doing 4500dmg with a normal hit, let's work backwards to see what BV you need:
4500 / 1.16 = 3880 dmg (taking out 1 Handed Weapon Spec and Crusade)
3880 - 520 (base ability damage) = 3360
3360 / 1.3 (BV scaling) = 2585 BV
2585 / 1.3 (Redoubt) = 1990 BV
1990 - 352 (Libram of Obstruction) = 1638 BV
1638 - 211 (ilvl 200 Shield) = 1427
So you only need 1427 from Block Value and Strength to do 4500 normal hits, in favourable conditions.
You've got a Strength of 1382 * 1.1 (BoK) = 1520 -> BV of 760. You'd need about 1000 more Strength from items, or a few items with a lot of Block Value on them - trinkets, perhaps, to get BV instead of Crit. Ulduar25 spec'd required probably. I'm going to try to put together an 'ideal profile' and see if we can set benchmarks...
To everyone - when you're posting DPS numbers and the like, can you post comparisons with what you would normally achieve in Ret spec? Just as a benchmark :) At my gear level, I do about 2k in H UK, but I can do 2.2k as a Ret spec, but more numbers would be nice!
Edit:
Ok, here's some crazy numbers from an Ulduar geared Protribution Pally with epic gems in pretty much every slot.
Prot DPS - unbuffed
Relevant Stats
Strength: 2130
AP: 4950
SP: 183 (only one point in Touched by the Light, to get extra points in Sanctity of Battle)
Crit: 696
Hit: 370 (I know, it's over melee cap, but I can't find a way of dragging it back down)
Exp: 144
Avenger's Shield: 3700 per hit
Hammer of the Righteous: 2620 per hit
Shield of Righteousness: 3400 per hit
Raid Boss estimated DPS: 3500
Disappointing? Somewhat. Now let's consider a buffed one!
Prot DPS - BoM, BoK, Horn of Winter
Relevant Stats
Strength: 2540
AP: 6320
SP: 202
Crit: 696
Hit: 370
Exp: 144
Avenger's Shield: 3910 per hit
Hammer of the Righteous: 3100 per hit
Shield of Righteousness: 3830 per hit
Raid Boss estimated DPS: 4190
Now we're getting somewhere! Ok, let's get carried away and see what we can do if Dark Matter, Greatness and the Libram of Sacred Shield all proc at the same time...
Prot DPS - Ability Proc
Relevant Stats
Strength: 2920
AP: 7079
SP: 202
Crit: 1308 (55.79%!)
Hit: 370
Exp: 144
Avenger's Shield: 4030 per hit
Hammer of the Righteous: 3360 per hit
Shield of Righteousness: 4785 per hit
Raid Boss estimated DPS (for all of 10 seconds!): 5080
Moral of the story?
Libram procs are crucial for big ShoR damage.
Waiting for a Greatness proc might be more useful than using HotR/ShoR too early.
If you spend 6 months gearing to get all this, then you deserve to splatter anyone else across the battleground!

Suboptimal gear is probably it. We do still need to stack Strength (priority is Strength > Hit > BV (?) > Crit). But it's probably using too much PvP and tanking gear - wasted points on Resilience and defence stats.
Worth running tests if you're not sure on Crit rating. Maybe the theories are wrong? To do so, use a series of melee attacks on a test dummy with 0 hit and as much crit as you can stack. Then, gem up for hit, aim for maybe 4% hit, and see if that increases the amount of crit you get.

To be honest, I didn't have a clue what exactly you were referring to =) But either way, the same approach would be the best way of checking either theory.
