There is no doubt Arthas will be a raid boss in WOTLK.
Actually there is a doubt. Because if Arthas dies, then what happens to all the Undead? Also Arthas is the coolest character in all of WoW (atleast in my opinion). So I hope they don't kill him. And anyways, if the Lich King by himself was so powerful that the dreadlords of the Burning Legion was scared of him, imagine how powerful he'll be now since he combined with Arthas. How can a few puny people like us hope to defeat him?

Yeah, But the thing is, there are only so many lore characters and Blizz had made moves to start killing them off. I still don't like illidan dying. He can fly, he wants to kill arthas, I don't see why they couldn't have had him take off when his health bar was low and say something like "Champions of azeroth, you have proven yourself to be quite powerful indeed. You may be of use to me..." and like take off leaving behind a chest of loot then coming back to helps us and get himself some revenge by fighting with us against Arthas. And during a phase he flies down and fights along side us.
all good, but too cliche imo

I personally think we'll have assistance in the fight, much like the illidan fight with Akama and Maiev. In the early info about WotLK we already know Tirion Fordring has Ashbringer and has called out Arthas. My version of the fight has Tirion tanking him while other members of the new Silver Hands fight off adds that come up the frozen throne. Phase 1 is just a dps race. At 75% maybe or something the adds overtake the knights at the base of the throne and Tirion disengages arthas to go aide them, at this point he yells something like "I must help my Knights to keep the scourge at bay, keep up the fight!" At this point a tank grabs him starting phase 2. At 25% Tirion returns at 10% health and Arthas freezes the raid for a cutscene of sorts. Tirion takes a final blow at Arthas but it is easily parried and the Lich King kills Tirion. At this point Tirion drops the Ashbringer and Arthas uses his power to erect a barrier making him immune to attacks. Only the ashbringer can melt this shield and make him voundrable to attack so a tank must pick it up from the ground. You then bring him to 1% and another cut scene occurs where the Lich King seperates himself from Arthas and flees somehow, leaving Arthas' body to die and to drop phat lootz. And Arthas drops a token of sorts 6% of the time that can be turned in for a Legendary reward. Frostmourne the Cursed (Death Knight Runeblade/2h'r sword), The Ashbringer (1h tanking sword), and maybe other assorted goodies to maske it desiserable by all class.

I think you should have to kill Illidan before you kill Arthas.
However, if you tried to get into BT at level 80, all the mobs would be level 80 etc.
(Just like going from the 51-59 AV bracket to the 60-70 one)

Yeah, maybe you would have to do Naxx first too, to get Ashbringer.

Well the floating rumor I have heard is when Arthas falls a new Host will be delivered to the Lich King from a woman with a large cloak and a dying thirst for Vengeance. Think about the Lich King Reviving an enemy that threatened his very existance and hates him, (Illidan). Having Illidan revived by the Lich King to serve as his new Host thus intensifying his powers beyond all imagining. And bringing great suffering to Illidan's soul in the process knowing that he is serving a former enemy that defeated him.
This sounds interesting. Would you mind linking the source for this, or is it just something you perhaps overheard at a local Gamestop?

There is no doubt Arthas will be a raid boss in WOTLK.
Actually there is a doubt...
From the official
Wrath of the Lich King FAQ:
Will players actually get to encounter Arthas himself?
Players will be skirmishing with the minions of Arthas from the moment they set foot on Northrend. He will be a constant presence as players progress through the expansion content --
which will culminate in a showdown with the dread Lich King himself.
At the Blizzcon lore panel, Chris Metzen and Alex Afriasabi poked fun at a hypothetical situation where a player (named "Pwnusohard") had obtained Frostmourne and was the new Lich King. It got a few laughs, but may reveal what they're planning: that the Lich King can possess a new host if necessary.
