Haha, I can't claim to possess any logic either. :)
I'll probably go back to my mage sooner or later, I love mages to much to totally abandon them, but the guild needs a priest more than a mage, so ....

Well, yeah. But they also have a fair bit more stamina, and Pallies can heal, too ;) It was mostly a joke, though. Multiple mobs, who can beat down a shield in a matter of moments do tend to be problematic though. And 20 charges of IF don't last terribly long! ^.^ I just kinda suck at dealing with them, though am still doing better than my original priest did.
I feel foor the poor baby Warriors, though. I watched a Warrior level, and he died
soooooo
much from levels 1-30.
Yeah, that "she" is actually the one tiny edit I made to his post, LoL. Probably shouldn't have, but it doesn't affect meaning any, at least.

Oh yeah, leveling my warrior was a nasty time right until I finally could wear plate. After that dying was cut down to less than 1/8 of my deaths pre 40.
@Chiv and rest. This is a blast of a spec. I'm up to lvl 30 in a matter of weeks. And thats while still having a life and maybe only playing 15 hours a week.
Its my first toon that can actually take on 2 elites, +2 of my level, at the same time and still pull out a win. Then turn around and still heal the crap out of very poor groups in Stocks and Gnomer.

Oh, I'm adding one-at-a-time (my mana is very nice and the dps is worth not immediately switching to Med), so I don't have Improved IF just yet! I will very soon, though.
I should be able to buy the Glyph today.
I
think
you're right about IF/Shield, so that's more effective charges. But once that shield goes down, IF doesn't last much longer. Would be nice if they'd just remove the charges, increase the mana cost, sure, but drop those charges. Besides, it doesn't happen all that often, it's generally bad pulling on my part when it does.
That or Murlocs ;)
2 guys 3 levels above me? No problem. 5 or 6 Murlocs, on the other hand....
Edit: Actually, I bought the glyph, but it's going to have to sit in my bank for a few levels. I can't replace that Glyph of Smite ^.^

I am going to be stubborn and continue playing this all the way to L80. I am enjoying it, it is very effective for soloing, and I have done OK healing Nexus and UK so far in Northrend. I feel better roleplaying a priest this way vs Shadow.
In Northrend, what itemization is desired? Is is still:
spellpower > spirit > intellect? Or, does that apply more to lower levels? Does crit rating (as seen on many gear pieces) provide better mana utilization via Surge of Light than the mana regen provided by spirit? And does MP5 beat spirit? I've seen discussions about itemization for disc healing, holy healing, and shadow DPS, but this is kind of like all 3 combined!
Also, can anybody recommend some good/easy item pieces with +hit that can be easily swapped out when healing? I want that +hit when soloing, but it's wasted while healing. Maybe a couple of rings and trinkys that be easily swapped, allowing me to keep a single main set of gear with spell stats benefiting both roles (easier to do while leveling, though I realize may players keep alt sets).

This is a pretty good guide for Pre-Shadowform.
After lvl 40 and obtaining SF, there is no reason to compare however. And after lvl 50, the arguments because moot because the damage in SF becomes soo much greater than Smite. I recently leveled a horde priest to 80, and once I hit level 50, and obtained our most important spell as SPriest, downtime become a thing of the past.
