I (along with many other players I'm sure) wouldn't want to sacrifice our PoH, CoH, Guardian Spirit, and Flash Heal glyphs for the Renew glyph.
I've been re-evaluating glyphs for holy, lately. I used to think that CoH, Flash Heal, and PoH/GS were mandatory. Now, I only think that CoH is...
For a holy spec, CoH is mandatory. Flat HPS/HPM increase = WIN. Better raid healing = WIN.
With my holy spec and the way I heal with it, almost all of my F.Heals are from SoL, which makes Flash heal a waste. Depending on your healing style this may or may not be worth dropping. I still haven't dropped it yet, but after reviewing more WWS's, and seeing how many Flashes I pay for, I probably will. From my stats to date, about 90% of my F.Heals are from SoL.
I had PoH for my 3rd glyph, but consistently, gPoH only makes up a total of 3% of my total healing on Boss encounters. I don't think it's so awesome as everyone likes to think it is.
GS - pretty nice glyph. I like the utility that it provides.
Renew - Doesn't affect HPM, only HPS. I've played around with this glyph a little bit. In actuality, I think it'll end up being my 3rd glyph if/when I drop F.heal. I've started using Renew for more than just tank healing, and the Glyph makes it surprisingly potent. My biggest beef with g.Renew is that it means I have to re-cast it on the tank more often, but for the return that I'm getting on Renew, it's pretty dang good. Sure, it means that I spend more mana, but typically this washes as I have more HC procs, and less need to cast extra direct heals on a tank.
So I could see people taking CoH, GS, and Renew and really not losing anything, depending on how you prioritize you spells.

I still don't think I would get much out of using Glyph of Renew. In fact, I even tried it out for a long while and didn't miss it in the slightest when I dropped it. I felt very clearly that it was a waste of my glyph slot. I definitely still cast a large number of Flash Heals outside of Surge of Light, so I think that the Glyph is still warranted for me. CoH and GS are also must-haves for me.
We're also getting off topic here. ;-)

I really enjoyed this discussion we've had here. It's been enlightening for me and I hope it's been the same for others. :-) I have a feeling that our discussion is drawing to an end, unless others have things to say, I wanna thank everyone for your participation. :-)

So 3/3 Empowered Renew seems to fit your play-style. I still prefer to use my Flash heal to my renew.
In a heroic raid setting, Renew well rarely get more than one or two ticks off on unhealed party members. Overzealous Paladins, Shamans and Druids will stamp heals left and right more likely than not poaching your yet-to-tick Renew. You might get a 3k initial critical ER with a tick of 1600 for a total of 4600 healing, but for the same amount of time accounting cast time vs tick time, you would have achieved a critical flash heal of 7000 or more.
Again, this is an issue of play-style. The 1/3 Empowered Renew doesn't seem to work for you, and that's all good. :-) I have found that adding 2 points into Body and Soul do wonders for me and my raid. I've especially begun to like using BnS during Kologarn fight when I get Eye Beams. :-)

Through this thread I have gotten the feeling that it's a consensus that Renew is to be used on the tank and that's it. Here I show you a different story. I'm not trying to justify 3 points in Empowered Renew. I'm not even sure if using Renew this much is a smart thing. My primary goal is to open some minds to the possibilities of our spells and I think Renew is one of the spells that is often forgotten.
Actually, I wrote this thread to help "open minds" to a new possibility. I was under the impression that renew was still a big part of the healing done by most priests and that for those of us who aren't using it in our "style" we could make better use of the spells we ARE using more often. That's all. :-) good input though.

Guardian spirit... jeez, I don't see anything special about it. If you're in the situation where the tanks dies on you, either the tank doesn't have his avoidance in order or you don't have your healing in order. I have tried guardian spirit, and found it useless.
Guardian Spirit ...
On the tanks during the initial pull of Auriaya.
On the main tank when there are no other cooldowns available for Mimiron's Plasma Burst.
Those just off the top of my head.
I actually did make another topic on Guardian Spirit usage. Perhaps you'd like to chime in there?
