not an improvement no.
it's not far behind at all, a matter of a few percent, but it is behind the cookie cutter builds

thanks for the tip about the index, i'll get right onto that.
regarding corruption:
yes you can roll crit and damage multipliers (tricks of the trade etc) from the initial cast. this is what makes the nevermelting ice crystal (ilvl 232 trinket with a crit 'use' proc) BiS (or close to) for affliction.
spell power and haste are retested on refreshes from everlasting affliction.
the point of that entry was to answer the relatively common question of how buffs and debuffs work and while corruption has become something of a special case since that part was written the ideas hold true. once a DoT is ticking buffs on the caster don't effect it's damage. a refresh is a recast.
using the behaviour to roll big crit and damage multipliers for the first corruption is well known by blizzard and should not be considered an exploit. it has been discussed in various threads on the forum and isn't something i feel ought to be covered in an FAQ like this.
also, we're nearing the end of this expansion and looking forward to the next when the refresh mechanic we see on corruption will be rolled out to all DoTs.
as for the build, if it were a question about the PvE specs i would say post it here but i can't answer PvP questions directly (i don't do enough PvP myself to give accurate and current advice) and i'm not sure the board's most avid PvPers regularly read this thread.
i would suggest making a new thread and being as specific as possible with your questions. also, check the three PvP threads in the
helpful threads
topic for more specifically PvP oriented info.

Sorry about that many questions by the way xP.
hehe, don't worry, happy to help. lets see if i can cover them all.
you were correct to see that the choice there is between master summoner and mana feed.
that choice basically comes down to if you're mostly raiding or mostly doing 5mans.
a decently organised raid team (even a 10 man) will have source of replenishment which will be more than enough to maintain you FG's mana. the same can't be counted on in 5mans and there is much more risk of the FG bottoming out.
master summoner however is very unlikely to be needed (with the pet's avoidance ability and 2/2 fel synergy his health bar will barely move) but is very useful when it is needed.
i suggested the mana feed build in this FAQ but it is more likely to be useful to more people but taking the other option is entirely valid.
demo never uses an imp and definitely doesn't spend talents on it. there are no current encounters which favour ranged damage to the point of making an imp the only viable pet.
meta is something that you need to get a feel for.
you want to use it as much as possible. this means that you want to use it early in a fight so that it's available again near the end of the fight (or even multiple times depending on the encounter).
the other consideration, often pulling in the opposite direction, is that you want to stack buffs. particularly heroism/bloodlust and your decimation.
sometimes, if the fight is about 3-4minutes long, this works out great. you use meta at the start and it comes off cooldown just as the mob hits 35% and your shaman hits BL/hero. other times it won't work so nicely and you have to make a judgement call. if the boss isn't going to last so long you should probably wait for heroism and just use it then. some fights have a particular burn phase where maximum output is required.
demo's strength is in meta so it should be something you think about as you go into each fight.
if there is nothing particularly dangerous happening in melee range you should get there for meta, yes. don't , it wastes a GCD. run in prior to hitting meta and use instants while you run. refresh corruption and life tap back to full mana. when you use meta you don't want to waste GCD on life tap so you'll need all that mana.
once there hit meta and immo aura and continue casting as normal. no cleaves, even on AoE.
for big trash numbers you would however trash don't drop purples so while getting big numbers can be fun it is relatively low priority. use it when ever you can but make sure it is always available when you start a boss fight.
if there's likely to be damage occurring in melee range after meta finishes then yes, move back. and yes teleport is an ideal way to do that. however, if there's no major reason to return you can just stay there and even run into melee at the start of the encounter with the melee classes.
soul fire requires decimation to be a better option than your usual spells. never use it before 35%
glyph of life tap and glyph of felguard are so good for demo as to be set in stone. the third option is more debatable but it's more because there are numerous good options rather than having a plethora of reasonable ones.
the options are meta, immo and QD.
meta is good but it requires perfect cooldown use (meta as often as possible and IA for the extra 6 seconds every meta). it's hard to actually get the most out of.
immo is a decent glyph. a small bonus but one that is always there, passively.
GoQD is considered the best at the moment but it is almost entirely due to the molten core talent. demo locks have a lot of haste, this makes lots of ticks which in turn leads to more procs of that very nice buff.
glyph of corruption is a poor glyph in almost every area of the game. it sounds great but it has a low proc chance and doesn't actually improve output much when it does proc. the difference between a ~2 second cast and an instant isn't that much in terms of DPET (damage per execute time).
it is incredibly easy for healers to cover our life tapping and no good healer will ever even mention it never mind complain. you can do your bit, of course, by tapping little and often rather than getting to zero mana and tapping all your life away.
i hope i've covered all your questions there. let me know if i missed something.

Q: Should I use a
Spellstone
or a
Firestone
?
A:
Spellstones will provide a noticeably greater benefit for all warlock specs except deep destruction. At higher gear levels (from early Tier9 and above) Destro specced Warlocks will see a greater benefit from a firestone.

yes soul siphon stack with the 4 x bonus, it's the only reason we take soul siphon.
it is as simple as replacing but, of course, shadow bolts function slightly differently to drain soul since DS is channelled. you still want to maintain DoTs and especially haunt while channelling DS so you will rarely channel its full duration, you will have to interrupt casting to refresh DoTs.
basically wait until directly after a tick has occurred and then cast your other spells.
below 25% affliction warlocks should see a definite though not massive increase in their output. this is also due to talents like death's embrace.

hooray!
a relatively minor achievement but one i'm proud of, this thread has passed 200,000 views ^_^
thanks all who have aided its longevity with suggestions, corrections and criticisms.

Even a higher achievement since its view count is over that of the
Helpful Threads
sticky.

at this point simcraft is so well developed for wrath that it is very accurate. however, it is dependant on what it's given.
when you say best gear ever, do you mean the best gear you can get hold of or are you going for BiS here?
are you modelling the ideal raid setup with full buffs or something more tailored to your own group etc.
more details please ^_^
if you're using wowhead profiles to make these gear sets please post them.
on a side note this might develop into a fairly in-depth discussion on simcraft which might be a bit beyond the scope of this thread. if we're going to discuss the various options and intricacies of simcraft then it might find a good home in acabar's thread.

good idea.
i added a note in the macro section:
A general macro can be made, into which you put any spell that you will cast often. this will trigger any bonuses from trinkets and enchants (engineer's glove enchant), and will also use abilities like demonic empowerment (demo only):
#showtooltip <spell name>
/run SetCVar("Sound_EnableSFX", "0")
/use 13
/use 14
/use 10
/cast demonic empowerment
/cast <spell name>
/run SetCVar("Sound_EnableSFX", "1")
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
