For those that are afraid to do this because they don't have all of the glyphs, the last patch actually gives all dragonriding RACES (not regular dragonriding) the ability to have all of the glyphs active. So, you get all of the abilities for dragonriding during the races. That means you CAN get to gold without having already gone and gotten all of the glyphs in Dragonflight.

For all of the regular courses, though, you can obtain gold with just the ability Surge Forward. You'll need a bit more for the Advanced and Reverse courses.

Here are some easy tips for the desperate dragon racer.

Only use Surge Forward!
Get up to speed as fast as possible, with atleast two surges, thats what it takes to start regenerate vigor.
See if there is a steep "downhill" early in the course where you can regenerate and patiently collect around 4 full vigor.
When you have enough full vigors keep using Surge Forward at regular intervals to maintain the highest speed.
Make sure you dont have any vigor left when you reach the finish line. So spam that button in the end!
Be careful to surge in tight corners. And of course try to keep your path as straight as possible.
If you like, use an addon like "Dragon Rider" to be aware of your speed. So you dont over-surge or ever fall below the regeneration speed.

A little explanation: There is basicly 3 speed levels: no regen-, regen- and high- speed. And think about the race having two phases, a regen phase and a high speed phase. Try to keep the phases as few as possible. If you get low on vigor you will need to have a good regen phase to do a new high speed phase again. Dont mix them to much.

A few exceptions exist but you will notice. I hope this helps! :) Good Luck.

As before I have made a complete youtube video guide showing how to get gold in all of the races in the Eastern Kingdoms Cup in Normal, Advanced, and Reverse. This time the commentary is included directly, so no separate video, and I even put in a bit in the beginning showcasing some tips and tricks as well as basics for people new to the races.

Few tips and tricks:

Always try to Surge Forward to keep the speed up
If your next checkpoint is upwards, use Skyward Ascent instead of surge forward, it gives you more speed for longer
Look out for the smallest of obstacles, be it a statue, a tree branch, a stone cap for a monument, they will all completely halt your momentum
You don't need to hit the dead center of each ring, you can actually just clip the sides/tops and this is CRUCIAL for avoiding obstacles that will arrest your momentum.
Do an advanced/reverse race immediately after getting gold on normal/advanced (respectively). You already know the layout and you can kinda reverse the course in your head and think about how to tackle tough parts of the race.
There is a stopwatch icon in your quest bar when you start a race, if you know you messed up, you can click on that and it will bring you back to the beginning and you can start over
Some races have floating red orbs or energy balls in lieu of or in addition to world obstacles, avoid these.
I never used Whirling Surge, it costs too much vigor for a minor speed increase that could be better spent or spared for other spells.
BIGGEST HINT OF ALL: IF YOU'RE STRUGGLING TO COMPLETE A RACE, DO THE RACE IN FIRST PERSON VIEW. This has been key in getting gold for some of these races

YOU NEED to do Elwynn Forest in 1st person view. It just makes all the difference when it comes to avoiding the trees that you can't see because the camera keeps moving around. Gilneas is a mystery as to why I was getting silver all the time and got gold for doing pretty much the same set of steps, so there might be minimal commentary on that one.

This was a fun set of challenges to do. I cut out all of the failures and overall it was 406 gigabytes of video footage distilled down to a nearly hour long 15 GB video file. Hope it helps!

So you get to choose your dragon when you hand in the quest, assuming you are not alliance and get the horde hand in or vice-versa

However after getting to Zul'Gurub I find that I can't fly through one part of the course with the Renewed proto-drake as you either hit the bridge or the top of the water falls, this drake does not fit through the course, if you are on the ground you can't even pass through then, so basically appears you need to pick the smallest mount, whichever one that is.
Will come back to this one later to confirm.

Trying some of the other races and finding that some parts you can only fit through if you use surge at the right moment to streamline your mount

Came back to Zul'Gurub using one of the smaller mounts, the Cliffside Wylderdrake and could fit between the bridge and waterfall without issue.
Manage 47.6 seconds for advanced and reversed.

The races feel to have random levels of difficulty, some I can crash and still get gold on advanced or I manage gold on first attempt when I don't know the course, others takes me dozens of tries to get inside the time by a 1/10th of a second.

My problem with all these races is I often just cannot see the next portal in time. No number of videos helps me get gold. All of the races where the course is visible I easily get gold. I have a better time at night but some courses throw so much at you visually I just do not see the trails. I tried reducing the graphics but it also subdues the trails as well. I use the smallest drake as well as first person but it does not help. My hat is off to those who can get gold on all of these runs!

Remember; you aren't meant to get gold first time out. It is meant to take some practice, learn the circuit, choose how to avoid that leaf, optimise your route and vigor spending... make rally notes for your co-pilot to yell "upwards R 4 vigor flap!" at the right time...

I really enjoyed it :) The simple rule helps me a lot: don’t look at a ring which you’re gong to flight through, look at a line after that ring.

My favorite course is Redridge Rally. My respect to those who designed it.

The worst course for me was Ironforge Interceptor. Often I even didn’t see where I have to flight to, especially on Reverse course. So I had just to remember where to flight to. It ruined all the fun.

Just curious what was your favorite course and the worst course?
