Given that the difference between classic and retail is currently 1 major patch (Legion vs BFA), there's no reason for the classic version to look different. But, it's clear as day that the texture itself is much duller than the retail version...strangely.
A lot of shaders and spell animations/effects continue to be broken (looking at you, Windfury Weapon) despite the numerous bug reports. It's quite disheartening. A big part of Vanilla is the look of it, as almost all of that look has been replaced or removed throughout the years.I really hope they fix all of these visuals before BC-Classic launches. Players who didn't play back then should get to see the game visually as how it was in its entirety.

How do they compare with the 1.12 vanilla client?
Love thicc orc pally.
It's most likely a shader problem, because this isnt exactly the same client as og vanilla, they have to emulate the client/server.tl;dr reverse engineering is complicated.
The Raptor and Tiger mounts suffer from this aswell on their armor pieces.
This has been like this since classic release. All items where already in the game and via Addons like Atlas Loot you could already check out the AQ40 or even Naxx Loot. And even back then, the colors where dull. i Noticed that back then already.
I am flabbergasted that this is what people choose to talk about.Don't we have any actual news about what's happening in Classic Azeroth? Between this and the "leveled 8 classes without boosting" article, it makes me think that Classic is dead.
Would the "retail" version not look different. Did they not at one point update the color pallets and some of the armor assests to match the new character models? These changes could have happened during anytime in which they added in new races and models. Just look at the torsos in the examples provided and you can see they clearly changed the look of the sets at some point.
Worst private server ever!
legit classic andy's worries
I'm sorry, but T2.5 is horrible either way.
