Avalanchion was first seen during vanilla in the occasional Elemental Invasions, and later we bested him in Deepholm during the cataclysm.

It seems like many old enemies are becoming our champions in the next expansion. Presumably they realized the greater threat of the Burning Legion and are coming to our aid. Enemy of my enemy is my friend?

Avalanchion is a rock elemental who originally helped to lead an attack on Azshara during the Elemental Unrest that preceded the Cataclysm. After the Cataclysm, Avalanchion was found in his vault in Deepholm, where adventurers put him down in order to keep Therazane's forces from advancing on the Earthen dwarves while they warred against the stone troggs.

After the Burning Legion invades Azeroth, the Earthen Ring seeks to unite the four Elemental Lords into one coalition against the demons. Traveling to Deepholm, the shamans (led by the Farseer of the Earthen Ring) discover that the Twilight's Hammer has made a resurgence, led by a woman known only as the Mistress of Twilight. The cultists ensnared many of Therazane's stone servants, twisting them with void energies.

Mounting a rescue mission to gain Therazane's favor, the Farseer releases the Stonemother's subjects before confronting the Mistress. During their battle, she reveals herself to be the twilight dragon Zeryxia, who takes commands from Lady Sitharia's whispers from the void. However, the Farseer puts her down and the Twilight's Hammer in Deepholm are crippled.

Grateful to the Earthen Ring for their aid, Therazane pledges her forces to their front against the Burning Legion, sending Avalanchion (now called the Unbroken, likely because he's been killed twice) to serve in the Heart of Azeroth as one of the Farseer's Champions.

Anyone else hear "I made you" When placing him in to a mission slot?

For any Shaman wondering what Avalanchion the Unbroken is ~~mumbling~~ saying when you send him on a Legion Class Hall Mission, he says, "I greet you." The sound clip can be found on his NPC page and it is the 'greeting' sound file 2 of 3 called "VO_703_Avalanchion_The_UnBroken_03_M".
