To get Mana Sponge you need Defeat Maut in Ny'alotha, the Waking City after defeating a Forbidden Manifestation on Normal difficulty or higher.

My theory:
To generate Forbidden Manifestation you need move Dark Manifestation to Forbidden Ritual.
Dark Manifestation + Forbidden Ritual = Forbidden Manifestation.

About Dark Manifestation:

Every ~40 seconds, Maut casts Dark Manifestation which creates a black hole which drags all players towards it.

After 6 seconds it detonates, dealing a large burst of damage to anyone within 12 yards.
Immediately after detonation, an add under the same name spawns from the black hole.

Dark Manifestation adds have 1 hp but a large mana pool which acts as a shield due to its Dark Aegis passive.

The off-tank should keep the add at least 20 yards away from Maut at all times, as otherwise the boss will cast Devour Manifestation, killing the add instantly whilst gaining any remaining mana the add had.
The tanks should ideally taunt swap just before an add spawns, so that the Shadow Claws stacks are kept to a minimum on any given tank.

Additionally, the add will cast Dark Offering which gives the boss up to 20% of the adds remaining mana

This cast can only be interrupted by dragging the add into a Devoured Abyss zone.
The off-tank should drag the add into the zone to interrupt the cast, but quickly back out again as the add would otherwise be immune to magic damage whilst inside the zone.

Upon reaching full mana, Maut will move to the middle of the encounter space and enter phase two.

About Forbidden Ritual:

Maut draws orbs of mana from the altars around it.
Players or creatures that touch the orb explode, inflicting Arcane damage to all players based on how far the orb traveled. Each mana orb that reaches Maut restores up to 100% of its mana.
Players who touch the orb are afflicted with Forbidden Mana.

We used a 3rd tank for this, but you could probably do without it, just make sure they have a taunt. High mobility is a plus.

During Phase 1 adds will spawn, you can kill the first 2 and have your designated taunter keep the 3rd add in a pool (away from the group so they dont kill it).
When the boss reaches phase 2 have the add (instead of a player) catch one of the orbs coming to the boss. He will empower and become a Forbidden Manifestation.
Make sure you are still going to break the boss's mana shield before using hero/bloodlust to nuke the add down. Kill the add and finish the fight.

Difficult to solo, the boss consumes the adds when they get close. Best to be a class that has a pet or something like Ox Statue to taunt them away from boss until the 2nd phase starts.

Solo'd this as a feral druid. I damaged one of the first 2 adds he spawns to about 25% mana before it got eaten to adjust phase 2 timing so he'd transition just a little bit after spawning add number 3 but not before. I also kited the boss to the opposite side of the room as where the add was going to spawn to stall for even more time.

After getting the add to phase 2 it's free, just kite it into an orb, kill it, and then afk until the boss finishes phase 2 (don't bother trying to hit him during it, the cast at the end does basically no damage)

Moderate Solo for Pet Classes Level 70 Dragonflight, Easy Solo for Level 80 Worldsoul Saga, and Beyond...

1. Normal Difficulty.

2. Begin fight, reduce boss health to 50%, keep aggro on pet.

3. Boss spawns giant purple pools that try to suck you in, then a manifestation spawns. Pull it to yourself, but stand away from boss.

4. Boss eventually goes into stone phase, blue orbs are spawning and heading towards boss, place the manifestation in between the boss and orbs and the manifestation will eat the orbs.

5. Rinse & repeat until manifestation turns into Forbidden Manifestation.

6. Kill Forbidden Manifestation.

7. Nuke boss.

8. ?

9. Profit. Achievement Completed.

Сan be done solo! You can do it solo, even without a pet.
In the realities of dragonfly, all you need is to survive. If you have tank spec, that's even better.
Tactics: You need to catch the moment when the boss summons an elemental and stand between him and the boss.
This way the elemental won't get too close to the boss.
And you have to survive until the moment when the boss is full of mana and goes to the 2nd phase.
