So, how this achievement works - At the Laboratory of Mardivas, there is a weekly quest (The Laboratory of Mardivas) where you can summon an elemental and defeat it. Sometimes mobs in Nazjatar can drop Arcane Reagents that can be used at the laboratory to create different creatures: Strange Volcanic Rock (which I will be referring to as Fire), Strange Mineralized Water (Water) and Strange Oceanic Sediment (Sand). Benthic items with the Elemental Instincts effect grant an increased chance of looting these reagents from Nazjatar mobs.

There are 6 crystals where you can input reagents on, 3 greater crystals and 3 smaller crystals, and for each creation, you can add a reagent to either 1 smaller crystal, or 1 smaller and 1 greater crystal. After inputting any combination you'd like (or none at all), you create the elemental by confirming your choice in the Essence Amalgamator next to the crystal clusters.

This achievement requires you to invoke and defeat every single combination of elementals that can be created in the laboratory. You can only summon an elemental once a week yourself (if you die, the elemental despawns, but you can simply re-create the creature in the essence amalgamator, not losing your reagents in the process). As you get phased out of groups when on this quest, this will require 13 weeks of summons.

Well, I guess the earliest you can get the Crab mount is after 13 weeks, because the quest is weekly and you need to kill all possible spawns.

The Mardivas's Laboratory zone is solo phased, so it appears that you cannot tag other peoples mobs in order to get credit.

Attempted to kill an creation then abandon quest to see if I could retake the quest and summon a different one.

Upon reacquiring the quest, I immediately got quest completion credit and still wasn't able to use the crystals again. Look like we can't do it in a single week that way

If you've already completed The Laboratory of Mardivas for the week, you won't be able to use the Arcane Reagents to do anything inside Mad Mardivas's Laboratory.

So after the reset each week, don't just waltz in there and click past the dialogs to complete the quest -- you'll just wind up with Arcane Amalgamation.

One other tip: Arcane Reagents are not soulbound, so keep them all on your bank alt until you're ready to use one or two on reset day.

I feel stupid for having to ask this but how do you input the items to change the creature summoned? I cant click on the items or the crystals

I feel slow for not realizing this earlier but if you're confused like I was (and not phased/bugged), you have to accept the weekly quest first, THEN you can interact with the crystals if you have the items in your inventory BEFORE interacting with the amalgamator.

This achievement is a part of the meta Undersea Usurper. You use need the below items in conjunction with crystals to spawn the below mobs using the following combinations.

Coordinates to the cave are: /way Nazjatar 60.31 30.52 Mardivas's Laboratory

The mobs for The Laboratory of Mardivas seem to drop ~2-3 Prismatic Manapearl and the final quest turn in giving 5 Prismatic Manapearl. If you are unsure if you have done it this week you can copy and paste this into your chat log. If "true" is returned it has been completed. If it states "false" then the quest hasn't been done. /script print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(55121))

Lesser Benthic Arcanocrystal and Greater Benthic Arcanocrystal requires Strange Mineralized Water each.
Lesser Lithic Arcanocrystal and Greater Lithic Arcanocrystal requires Strange Oceanic Sediment each.

It should be noted that the greater crystals will only be clickable after you use one of the lesser crystals. So if you're trying to figure out why it won't let you use the greater crystals, that's why.

Went there today to check another off my list but it wouldnt let me put in the reagents. Forced me to summon the arcane variation which I had already killed. Anyone know why?

I thought maxing out the followers was going to be the naz achievement that would take the longest but i didn't really think about how many names are on this list and they each represent a week.......I'll have the followers done well before this one is complete.

I'm using the following macro to show the status of the Mardivas lab weekly quest.

It shows if you've opened the quests up, if you still need to do the weekly quest or if you're done for the week.

in order to more easily track your progress on this and see which arcanocrystal combinations are still required, you can run the following:

you can run the lines individually, using Paste / CopyPasta, or with an extended macro using Macro Toolkit.

the macro will output the following:
if you still need to slay a creation for the achievement it will be listed along with the elements required for each one.
L = lesser arcanocrystal
G = greater arcanocrystal

MW = Strange Mineralized Water required for the benthic arcanocrystals
OS = Strange Oceanic Sediment required for the lithic arcanocrystals
VR = Strange Volcanic Rock required for the pyroclasmic arcanocrystals

for example, salgos the eternal will output "L OS G VR" which means it requires activating the lesser lithic arcanocrystal with Strange Oceanic Sediment and the greater pyroclasmic arcanocrystal with Strange Volcanic Rock.

if you've already completed The Laboratory of Mardivas for the week it will just display "mardivas done".

if you haven't completed The Laboratory of Mardivas for the week but already completed the achievement on this character nothing will be displayed.

I made "Small Sand, Great Fire" like Neryssa's list has correctly summoned all other elementals for me for 12 weeks expecting Salgos the Eternal as the last boss, but... Dusty Amalgamation procced.

Now I have to wait one more week without knowing if I'll ever get the next one right.
By the way I'm %100 sure I activated shards correct, I was recording a video for it and I checked it from there again to be sure.

I guess it's ticket time...

*UPDATE:
Ticket did no good, GM said they can't reset quests so I posted it on forums, that also got zero attention.
So I patiently waited, did the same thing this week and it happened. I have no idea why it didn't happen last week.
Anyways, got my Side Walking Crab Mount at last, I will now let haters hate and keep downvoting the $%^& out of this comment ;b

To complete this achievement you will need in total:

You can sell excess items on AH, unless You farm transmog items and need particular bosses to kill over and over again..

Think you can't defeat these creatures solo? You can't bring other players in with you, but that doesn't mean you can't get help.

First and foremost, bring your Nazjatar buddy from Newhome. Once they've been leveled up a bit, they can be a big help.

Second, I had acquired a couple items from my adventures in Nazjatar that summoned elemental companions. Pop one of those just before you pull. If you don't have one, talk to an inscriptionist or check the auction house for blood contracts which also give you a combat ally for a time.

Third, and my personal favorite, are Mechagon blueprint items. A portable fire turret does a fair amount of damage if you keep the mob near it. And I'm shocked I don't see more people using the Annoy-a-Tron Gang. It's just a little swarm of annoying bots that taunt mobs like a tank, so you're free to stand back and blast away unmolested! And if one Gang goes down, just drop another!

Using these tips, I've blasted through the list. This quest is one of the first things I do after the Tuesday reset. Today I killed one of the mobs with 1.9 million hit points and still had 75% of my health left at the end.

If you cannot find any quests in the laboratory, then you need to get Lesser Benthic Arcanocrystal from mobs in Nazjatar. This will give you access to complete the weekly quests.

Access to Mardivas' Labratory and completion of the achievement Periodic Destruction begins with completing Legacy of the Mad Mage, and leads to opening up the weekly quest The Laboratory of Mardivas, in which you will have to summon various elementals over the course of 13 weeks. You may summon one elemental per week by, either activating the Elemental Essence Amalgamator alone, or activating various combinations of the lesser and greater Arcanocrystals, using Strange Mineralized Water, Strange Volcanic Rock, and Strange Oceanic Sediment along with the Elemental Essence Amalgamator, and completion of the quest grants 10 Prismatic Manapearl. Activating the Amalgamator will summon the elemental and lock out until the weekly server reset. Each elemental also has a chance to drop various rare and epic loot. I'm not sure how other classes fare, but I completed all elementals as an Unholy Death Knight, never bothering to switch to Blood spec.

My attempt to squeeze it into a standard macro (255 characters). It tells you which crystals to click on (e.g. "LL" means "Lesser Lithic"), not which item is required (I assume you have a small pile of them).

Remember to check that the crystal is activated (sometimes it says "Spell not found" instead).

Cool one liner.

Assuming you have TomTom installed, you can copy and paste this one line command into your chat window or into a macro.

The command will do the following:

Check to see if you've already completed the weekly quest.
If you have completed the quest for the week then you'll see a green message,
If not then, then you'll see a red message, and the script will attempt to create a waypoint on the Nazjatar map.

The command can be run while your toon is anywhere.

TomTom will only allow you to create a single copy of the way point, so if you run this command multiple times then subsequent runs will not have the way point message from TomTom.

This achievement is not fun, it's not engaging, it's pure and simple forcing the player to pay for 4 months. A cynic would say that needing 13 weeks (instead of 12) was just so the player would have to subscribe for an extra month just to get the last kill.

I get and support idea that some things should be earned, but the level of engagement for this achievement is as bad as opening a mobile app, tapping a button and logging out. As someone who was rarely playing in BFA, having to wait for months to complete the Undersea Usurper, this is extremely frustrating.

Does anybody know if you can abandon the quest AFTER killing the mob, so you can reset the crystals and summon another one, and get these all done in one day?

I tried cheating this quest in order to get more than 1 checkmark per week, turns out when you enter the cave to summon the mob, you get phased into a special shard and unable to see or interact with any other player, so it can't be used to kill other player's spawn to speed up the achievement grind
