Special Abilities

Warlord’s Rage – Draining power from a nearby Naga Distiller, if his spell is completed he will enrage gaining a 100% attack speed boost and +75% to damage.
Spell Reflection – Reflect spells back to the caster. Visual – white bubble around him. Shows up with Detect Magic.
Impale – Randomly targeted bleed, deals 500 physical damage every 3 seconds.

Strategy

Warlord Kalithresh has a lot of hp that is his only claim to fame, if we stop him from gaining his Warlord’s Rage buff this fight will be a cake walk.

Our tank can not control Kalithresh’s position since he will move to a new naga distiller each time one is destroyed, let Kalithresh lead and just follow. It is also important for our caster to watch for his Spell Reflection, if a mage is in our party make sure detect magic is on him and we will not have to worry about our casters blowing themselves up.

Whenever Kalithresh begins channeling his Warlord’s Rage, EVERYONE should stop what they are doing and take the distiller down, even our healers; it is incredibly easy if the entire party focuses.

Really quite an easy boss, even when we didn't all focus on the distiller, his warlords rage is a fairly short buff for him. We had a shadow spec healer and a MS spec tank and we managed to down him just fine.

This fight is cake. he CAN be controlled - tank him next to a distiller. Once he start channeling pwn the distiller and move to the next one.

This fight is very easy on heroic, much easier than the water elemental boss.

He does the same abilities, just hits a wee bit harder, And does channel the spell to the water things more regularly. Nothing of great concern however.

If the door to his room won't open then log out and delete your cache folder. That'll let you work the two machines to open his door.

on heroic.

the fight again is rather similar to normal mode, just the boss hits a little harder and hits very hard when enraged.

healing.
firstly i'll start with healing. in this fight a strong priest should be able to keep the main tank alive alone, again i suggest using greater heal rank2/3. this is possible only if the boss is stopped from enraging most times. however our main tank is pretty geared and therefore gains alot of dodge/block from his gear which of course helps my healing and mana gain during the fight.

water distillers
the four water distillers are based in a square around the bosses platform. during the fight he will aproach one of these and channel "warlord's rage" this is easily visable due to the red laser by which the boss attaches himself to the distillers. when this hapoens all dps should be concentrating on these distillers and NOT the boss as killing these distillers prevents the boss from going into warlord's rage. this is very important as once the boss is enraged your pretty much dead, with the boss hitting around 17-20k on heroic.

tanking.
in our group we usually tank the boss right in the middle of his platform to begin with, this allows the dps to clearly see which distiller he goes for to channel his rage. once one distiller is destroyed tank the boss in the space where it stood, this maximising the time the boss takes to get to the next distiller and making it easier to see which one hes going for.

abilities.
this boss does a rather low damage dot called ''impale'' u usually know when u have this dot due to seeing a large harpoon through your character. the dot itself does around 500 damage and can easily be canceled out with a renew.

his second ability is spell reflection. im not sure but i think this happens once u kill a distiller. mages and locks beware as ur own damage can be nasty =P

Overall, if done correctly the boss is very easy. just make sure u kill the distillers otherwise its game over. max out ur group dps using only 1 healer as dps is much more important in this fight.

yet again dropped normal loot except from an epic gem.

IMPORTANT NOTE!

If you have a mage in your party, make sure they use Amplify Magic! This guy does ONLY physical damage, therefore healing gets amp'd a TON. And trust me, this makes the fight easier (just a tad, though).

This guy on Heroic is almost the same as normal, its pretty easy.
I did it with Mage/ Feral Druid / Hunter ( Me) , Holy Paladin and Shadow priest , it went realy easy :)

As an affliction lock I dont have the best upfront damage but I found hellfire to be the best as far as destroying the tanks. We wiped twice then I used hellfire and we easily killed him.

he is a easy boss, just focus fire on water tanks when he channles and you will be ok.
was angry becuse i got d/c just before he died and didnt get the beast lord shoulders,i am a hunter btw

This site says thats the drop rate 6% is for Primal Nether, but Im almost sure that isnt true! I did Steamvaults 3 times in 2 days and Primal Nether did drop 3 times in 3 runs so thats 100% drop rate, I most be very lucky or this information isnt correct..

As a paladin healer with reasonable +healing (1156 unbuffed) all i can say is PLZ FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DESTROY THE TANKS! I just ran with a group that seemed to think it was a secondary objective... suffice to say i ran oom every time because it got to the point where spamming max rank HL was BARELY keeping him up, and thats with scarab going off twice in a row, so normal HL max spam wouldnt even do it. Destroy tanks, trust me lol

I think out of the 50+ times i did this on normal, we would always wipe the first time because dps doesnt seem to grasp the importance of dps'ing the tanks as fast as possible. This means any instant cast direct damage abilities you have, you should be saving for when you attack a tank. Also dont DoT the tank, as it needs to die faster than your dot has time to work.

On heroic, the fight is identical to normal.

Easiest boss in SV if you dps the tanks correctly.

Let your tank and healer concentrate on him and asap destroy the water tanks with 3 others party members.... very easy in this way. With our group he didnt reach the tirdh distiller!

If u permit to complete the channeling of his Warlord’s Rage you will be dead in a while...so YES your main task is to destroy the water tanks!

In reply to tanking him in the middle of the room, OK strat for normal.... NOT for heroics. By tanking him right next to the tank you want him to start channeling from, your DPS, including the tank for that extra damage due to higher health of the things on heroics can begin right away, instead of wasting the 2 or 3 secs to get to the tank he is channeling from. The time starts counting down as soon as he starts the channel, even if he is in the middle of the room before he gets to the tank. Also found it helpful if you are running with the type that find it hard to distinguish when to start attacking the tank, use a simple macro
/rw DPS FISH TANKS!!

I've run heroic Steamvaults many times, and found that wipes on this boss came from two reasons:

DPS failing to switch to the containers in time. I advise everyone to enable enemy healthbars with 'v' (something everyone should have on anyway, really) to quickly see when a container becoms targetable (I always drag the boss to a container to control which one he chooses, to further simplify the targeting). Even with that, some people Just. Don't. Get. It. Sheesh.
Casters nuking themselves due to the boss' spell reflect.

On a recent run I discovered a third reason: Insufficient DPS. My group had no trouble with the other bosses, and understood the importance of targeting the containers quickly, but averaging about 500dps each the DPS simply could not consistently kill the containers in time, even with me and the healer also hitting them. So know ahead of time that this boss is a gear check in a way the other two aren't.

For those of you wondering if it's possible, I soloed him today on normal. I am a lvl80 fury warrior (with 4k ap in berserker stance). He was actually much easier than the other boss (w/2 adds). After I realized you had to kill the tank I owned him. Still had about 16k hp because of enraged regeneration and blooodlust (w/ 2%of hp regen glyph). Hope this helps any melee classes wondering if they can solo this.

Heroic is Soloable by lvl 80 Feral Druid (tank) in pre naxx epics.

The challenge in my gear was to down the water tanks in time to prevent the enrage. The first few attempts I fell short on 2 tanks by a fraction of a second. It might be that swapping dps gear would be the difference, but it seemed that timing was more important because I was literally falling short by one maul. So I figured a potion of speed would do it. The time I succeeded, I was fortunate with timing and crits and downed the first tank in time, used the speed potion on the second tank which made the difference there, and failed to prevent the enrage on the third, but by that time I had him down enough to use Survival Instincts to finish the job.

I would love to know if anyone else is soloing him on heroic in similar gear, and if they have figured out a less tenuous strategy.

WTF. I don't know why but sometimes those tanks get bugged and you cannot target them even he triggers the channeling.

I got pwned 3 times because of that on normal.

Word of advice for soloing him at lvl. 80 for other ferals.

Do not use maul and save rage to destroy tanks as fast as possible.

I am on normal difficulty but those tanks have 10,5k health and not 4k? That rather strange and no wonder I have so much trouble here. 10 sec to destroy them, but you will have less time.

I have rather a starter tank set for normal 80 heroic and still using S2 gear.

This is getting ridiculous as I just cannot dish out 10,5k damage in 7 - 8 sec, and really doubt that normal 5m group of lvl 70 is capable of doing it.

Prot Paladin tactic, if you're having trouble with heroic solo.

Standard preparation... but use Righteousness instead of Light. You'll need this to pump out the extra damage. Consequently, make sure to judge light at all times.

Take it easy (melee/judge every 20/holy shield) until he goes for his first tank. You'll need every ability at your disposal unless you have some hefty power behind your gear. I had to judge, HotR, SoR, Exorcism, Avenger's Shield then Hammer of Wrath to get each tank. The key here was the use of Avenger's Shield. He will not go for another tank until your shield is off cooldown (+a few seconds). This gives you about 2-3 rotations of all-out dps, just out for spell reflection on exorcism.

Even if he gets a single tank off, don't worry... it's definitely possible to handle him with one enrage. A second enrage would probably wipe you, though.

Best of luck. My gear isn't great (some crafted epics, but the rest is quest gear), so I'd imagine most people will be able to do this a lot more easily.

Solo'd on normal as an 80 Ret Pally in a mix of PvE/PvP gear. Pretty straightforward, just make sure you're not using Seal of the Martyr or anything obviously silly like that.

For you soloers out there:

You DO NOT have to fully clear the room to engage him. The npcs will not aggro with him. However, it may help if you cant dps him down fast enough since he will run to the tanks nearby the trash

Solo'd as Afflic lock with Voidy out, got killed once due to me not responding to him sucking on the containers. 2nd time realised what I was supposed to do, got him to 60% before he used a container, 2 SB's with dots and the container goes down fast. My advice would be to save Soulshatter till he pops the 1st container, so he targets ol' Voidy when he's raging. He died after using 2 containers.

Soloed as an 80 Mage in Ice Spec.

Create a macro to target Naga Distiller. Buff your Water Elemental with Arcane Int, Focus Magic, and Dampen Magic. Keep Ice Barrier up, and Mana Shield handy for when IB is broken, and your Cold Snap is on cooldown.

Pop cds on Icy veins, Mirror Image, and your trinkets, and nuke him. Stop DPS immediately if he puts reflect up, and use your target macro when he starts channelling a Distiller. If Elemental gets killed, resummon, and burn Kalithresh down.

(Heroic) Hard fight for a Rogue, to be honest.

The other two bosses... Jokes. I posted guides on their pages, which could be summed up as "Zerg and win" with some useful sidetips on how to "not get stopped during your zerg," pretty much.

This guy, no way. I checked here and everyone is like "!@#$ EZ HE HITS LIKE A 14 YEAR OLD GIRL GOING THROUGH MENOPAUSE," but I suppose that's still ~2.5k per swing on leather.

To begin, I have ~31k HP and pulled ~6k DPS for most encounters. PvP gear (/heroic raid trinkets) + PvE spec, but that didn't work. At best, I got this guy down to 50k zerging him. Killing the tanks was simply not an option due to his damage.

Now, in perspective, I've soloed pretty much almost every BC heroic, Terokk, etc, all with either PvP Mut or PvE mut specs, but this guy actually made me leave and pick up a DIFFERENT spec, in order to do the encounter:

I sprint-kited during his spell reflects (Poisons, envenom) since my melee white damage < his melee white damage, and with two-twenty second evasions, I was able to drop him in one try (Ended with ~12k hp). I destroyed the tank he went on, and he died before even trying a second one. I only pulled 4.2k DPS with that spec, but 30% less DPS in exchange for ~250% more evasion.. Well worth it.

Very easily soloed as retri pala on heroic, got some ICC / ToC gear, with 2 / 5 T10 for divine reset...
Just used Seal of light. Did it as follows: Pop seal of light + sacred shield and engage him, divine storm -> CS -> DS ( resetted )
just keep sacred shield up and nuke those containers down, fairly easy fight, I saved bubble for if i would need it, but my HP didn't drop below 80%

Soloed him as a Resto druid with a gear score of 6k wearing mainly PvP gear, took about 5 attempts for me to get it done, the trick for me was to kill the containers before he enraged,which needs 100% focus and IS+wrath spamm as soon as it gets killable.
He died at the same time he was going for the fourth container.

Soloed Heroic as a Mutilate Rogue with good ICC 25 gear (264 avg).

Cleared trash. Stealthed behind. Garrotte, SnD, Evasion, Mut, Recuperate, and rest of regular rotation. When he went for the first tank, I dps'd the tank down, then went back to boss. Finished fight with about 40% health left.

I can't say enough good things about Recuperate. It is great when you are soloing instances, especially if you have enough haste to slip it into your rotation early with 5 combo points, and then get back to the business of killing...

So in like the beginning of Cata I was farming Cenarion Expidetion rep and I attempted to kill this guy and he like one shot me, it was stupid. So today I decided to work on random quests in Shatt and one from A' Dal led me to this guy again, so being aware of knowing this guy hits stupid hard, I tried again and I killed him before he even got to his first water thing. Soooo yea, 85 spriest in ilvl 353 gear and up easily solo'd :)

there is one important thing on this boss which is that, you cant just go through this boss. I havent seen someone reporting this but you have to kill other 2 bosses too and HAVE to activate Main Chambers Panel. i thought this is something to keep in mind bec i had to go back and forth 2 times through all instance to figure out how to reach this guy ... pretty annoying

Soloed on normal at lvl70. Blood DK in full 'looms (head, shoulders, back, chest, axe and 2 haste trinks) and Outland blues (bar one ring from Northrend).

Another easy fight. Make sure you dot the tanks asap then Blood Boil / Death Siphon them to destruction. The boss doesn't hit plate very hard unless he enrages.

Doing approx 2.5k dps on him, he only drained two tanks before he dropped (he was just about to start the third).

To gain access to the Warlord, you'll have to kill the other two bosses and activate the control panel in the vicinity of each boss. Once both control panels and both bosses are down, the door to the Warlord will open. The order you kill the bosses and activate the control panels in does not matter.
