Why *this* avatar?

I am feeling especially talkative lately...
So why did you choose the avatar you chose to be the chosen one of your choice?
So why this avatar? I realize some of you might have selected one that happened to be unique and decided to keep it - and that's fine by me. However I would to hear from the people who chose their pwetty pikchurs, not because they wanted something unique, but because it holds some symbolism to them.
Here, let me start (although I probably don't need to, most of you already know my motivations from my character). Regardless, I chose Tirion Fordring, first because he is just pure concentrated badass. But the the meaningful reasons I can point out in this topic are the fact that I am a Light-lover. You know, goodness, morality, redemption, salvation, second chances, and the likes. Oh, and justice and superb sense of honour as well. And Tirion, in my estimation, represents those things better than any other character in the WoW universe.
Just for the record, some of my other avatars (which I am unlikely to use anytime soon) are
Arthas as a paladin
Tyrael
A paladin in Judgement set
Aon Daa, which in Brandon Sanderson's
Elantris
is the symbol for power
Alexandros Mograine, the Ashbringer
I am easy character to read, am I not? :P

I chose mine because it's a rock with a blue rune etched on it.
But seriously, there is nothing really deep to it, I saw it, I liked it, I made it mine.

I've got a few,
One is the concept art for the Orc Shaman from Warcraft 3. My main is an Orc Shaman, and I always liked that art, so I picked it.
Another I have is an Orc Blademaster from an official Warcraft 3 wallpaper.
I have one of the Far Seer Icon from Warcraft 3.
The one I currently use is art for the Pandaren Brewmaster... because Pandaren are awesome.
It's kinda fitting for this as well.
I've also used one of the Monk class from Diablo 3, and a cool picture of a pirate I found on teh interwebz, but those I have deleted.

ArgentSun - I thought you picked that avatar because the guy looks irritable, and that is a lot like you.
I picked my avatar because I like EQ2... a lot. EQ2 to me is like eating steak every night for dinner, but being on wowhead is like seeing people eat nothing but crackers every night for dinner. I want to tell them how awesome the steak is, and how it costs the same as the crackers. Usually the people just laugh at me, or argue about the quailites of crackers.

I'm quite the opposite. I've got a morbid fascination with everything dead, dark, gloomy, and or insane. I've had everything from Grim Reapers to the Mad Hatter as my avatar.
This might seem a little weird if you take into account I'm a Paladin player through and through (not just in WoW). Paladins who sit up on their lofty thrones smiting anything they think is evil just make me mad. A real paladin gets down and dirty so he can truly judge what is evil and what is not. That's something Arthas coudn't do, and look where it lead him.
That's what I do like about Tirion, he has the balls to befriend and fight side-by-side with The Ebon Watcher. Most "Paladins" couldn't see beyond their own sense of self-righteous duty to see that they are really on the same side.

Also true :P Although it's very mood-dependent. If I've had a good day, I'll simply shrug trolls off. If I've had a bad one, I'll be snapping at the smallest things.
@Spacerebel, paladins doing the gruesome work is not morbid, it's the way we should roll. Pull mace, smash bad heads, drop a prayer, move on.
